Burton had been a hot name in northern Indiana after his breakout junior season this fall. He's continued his hot stretch throughout the summer, especially down in Indianapolis in wins against Carmel, Mt. Vernon and 4A champion Indy Cathedral, where Burton scored 35 points.

Numerous high-profile college coaches, which included Notre Dame coach Mike Brey, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, Michigan coach Juwan Howard, Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann, Illinois coach Brad Underwood, Auburn coach Bruce Pearl, along with assistants from Indiana, Purdue, Missouri, according to The Indianapolis Star, were at that game watching Cathedral's Xavier Booker, currently rated the No. 2 recruit in the nation in the 2024 class.

Burton's recruitment slowly began to blossom during the past season. He picked up his first college offer from local Bethel in later January. And his first Division I offer came from Indiana Purdue (Fort Wayne) in early March. Since the beginning of June, Burton has added nine others from Drake, to University Illinois-Chicago, Ball State, Appalachian State, Missouri State, Miami (Ohio), Western Michigan Southern Illinois (Edwardsville) and Southern Indiana.

Local article about him playing well this summer and which schools are starting to take notice. Still no mention of high-major offers from what I've read which is puzzling to me. I don't know that I would offer with what our roster/commits look like right now but I think he will be good for someone. I believe Brian has mentioned his name as someone Purdue has taken notice of. Maybe if he continues to be under-recruited (in my opinion) we can get him on some sort of arrangement like we got Sasha.
