Malik Williams commits to Louisville

This one hurts I am sick of playing by the rules when others don't . We either get dirty or continue to suffer from the likes of stripper U and Pizza man . NCAA does nothing to them and we get nothing for playing by the rules .
It sucks sure, but basketball is just not that important to me to turn to playing dirty just to get a recruit.

I have little doubt the staff did all they could to get him here.

What rules did UL break? And you can prove the accusation?

Exactly what dirty tactics did UL use? Be specific, you are making the accusation they broke and bent rules to get Williams.

Are you saying it wasn't dirty? If so, what proof do you have?

That knife cuts both ways. This isn't a court of law. They only have a presumption of innocence if you are willing to give it to them. For many people, events uncovered over the past year might lead one to believe that they are willing to bend the rules and people in power might be willing to overlook things when it comes to recruiting. In my opinion, they will be a dirty program as long as Pitino is there. He has given up the "innocent until proven guilty" privilege in my eyes.

What did Louisville offer that Purdue did not? You made the comment they could offer some things that Purdue could not. What was offered?

Haven't posted on here in years, but man, some things never change. Still the same people bickering and fighting to defend the honor of CMP.

I can't believe we're going into official visit season with zero commits, 5-6 open spots, and easily the deepest in-state class in a decade. Not only that, but in the last few days we've lost a major target, and couldn't even make the top 8 for two others. I knew the sudden barrage of 3-star-and-below offers the last two weeks wasn't a good sign.

It's been a full calendar year since our last commit, unless of course you count our steady influx of 5th and now 6th year players. Yikes. But, I'm sure that extension will start paying off any day now ;)

Morgan might want to hold off on those ticket hikes for Mackey that were mentioned in the report...

And there's still little girls that cry over every recruiting "miss' too.

Does not surprise me that Painter missed.......I have seen this before with CS being the lone exception. Painter is a good recruiter.....just not a great one. He will pull another good middle of the B1G class....that will keep Purdue right where it has been.

Pretty much how I feel as well. Sounds like we'll probably get a kid or two in the 75 to 150 range and continue to be good but not great with early ncaa exits.

You guys crack me up. I guess Malik Williams was the only good player in the 2017 class. The way you guys extrapolate from a guy committing to Louisville to determining our NCAA tournament exits 3 to 4 years down the road amazes me. It amazes me that you don't realize how stupid you sound.

Malik Williams was the #1 priority for Purdue. He is not only a good player, but most likely a great player. Stop making me xcuses dude.

Cancel the program! Panic! Only good player we could possibly land!!

I don't need to make an excuse. I'm just not going to be a whiny little girl about the decision a 17-year old kid made either. Not in my nature. If he is a good player, which is still an if, then big deal. Every program misses out on good players almost every year. You can choose to be a drama queen about it or you can choose to man up and see who wants to be a Boiler before writing off the team you don't know yet. I guess you've chosen the former. Congrats.

I hope this isn't the start of a string of missed targets, but we've seen that happen before. If the coaching staff misses on all of Jaren Jackson, Jr., Xavier Tillman, Kyle Young, and Nojel Eastern, Painter will probably later say, "I probably should have tried to add a transfer or two in 2016 to fill out the roster". I will be saying, "No duh, Coach. Have some foresight. You didn't really believe you guys were going to get that many top 2017 targets, did you?"

You are the whiny one. Stating UL can offer things Purdue cannot. You just won't admit that Painter failed again on his #1 target.

You want the best talent to stay in state? The answer is Cuonzo Martin I know what has he done? Gets the head coaching job at Tennessee lands a five star player. Goes to California who hasn't been good since Jason Kidd , pulls down a couple five star kids and if California was right next to Indiana he would have got our five star Kid 2. When he finds a spot and stays there he will become a really good coach because he can recruit. And if my memory serves me right he was in on recruiting Robby Hummel and Johnson and Moore. But I know go ahead and call me a troll or whatever else you want to call me but as long as painter is our coach we will have this conversation every year

Also for the person at the top who said basketball is that important to him why you even on this board then don't make sense to me.

1. Great coaching
2. A chance to play in a Final Four
3. A chance to play for a NC
4. Expectations of winning as opposed to participation :)

And they are just short of being a blue blood program that gets tons more national exposure and TV than we do.......all of which helps a young athlete's chances of getting what they all want, a shot at the NBA.

Would you feel better if it had been Duke or Kansas? You've heard of Denny Crum yes? That program has been miles ahead of ours for 30 years. Shocking a kid would choose to go there over Purdue.

And yes Louisville cheats they have done been caught. Everybody forget about the call girls and the other stuff they caught doing. But didn't get in trouble for it just like North Carolina and Syracuse.

It's not a shocker it's called get the right coach on the bench we do not have the right one there. Cuonzo Martin there you go that would be the right one he can recruit his ass off that's what we need if we want a final four.

Like the great Albert Einstein said, the definition of crazy is repeating the same behaviors/doing the same thing over an over again, and expecting different results.

It's not that people are whining, but we've all seen this same story play out over, and over, and over again.

Painter whiffs on top dogs, ends up getting a bunch of fringe 4 star and solid 3 star players, and Purdue is average to solid/good, but nothing special.

The E'Twaun/Hummel/Jajuan class is the last we've seen of elite recruiting by Purdue; not surprisingly, that was the last elite team(s) that Purdue had.

And that can never change right?
Getting Biggie doesn't mean anything to you? Just a freak occurrence? Could be, but could also be the start of something. You guys all forget. Painter and the staff are traveling around the country more than ever and as a result, offering more kids than ever outside of the state. The increase in his budget from a few years back is starting to have an effect. I believe Haas and Edwards are a direct result of the increase. We'll see how far it goes but we certainly have more opportunities at more quality players than ever before. We didn't make Flagg's cut but 5 years ago we never would have offered because we would have never seen him.

Well, they were banned from the NCAA Tournament this past season. I think that qualifies as getting in trouble. I do get your point, though. I don't think it will deter their coaching staff from operating however they want when recruiting.

Damn Darrell and Morgan. Most years you could count on football to take some attention from this forum but that "program" is so pathetic we'll have every whiner on here all fall. If you can't offer a top 5 program, $$, or hookers you'll only be consistantly successful if you can accurately predict the mind of an 18 year old spoiled jock.
