Love this...

I would rather start out in between 20 and 25 and work my way to the top 10
Starting higher gives the team a higher level of voter respect. The inevitable set backs don't hurt you as much from 10 as they do from 20. Recovey is faster when you right the ship as well. Improves your chances of better seeding which lessens the caliber of early opponents in the tournament. It matters.

I think right now opponents don't matter to Purdue because we can't beat the easy ones Little Rock Arkansas so it really don't matter what seed we get until we can prove we could beat those teams it don't matter

Why do you say we? It's painfully obvious to all that you are a troll and not a Purdue fan. Perhaps on to the next user name?

You sir are the inspiration and the embodiment of one of my favorite southern Indiana coloquialsms, "I don't know, but I'll tell you what..."

Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Arizona, etc. don't ever seem to scare recruits away because of a preseason ranking, do they?
Depends on the recruit. If your recruiting top 10 national players they believe they are the best and are only playing college because they have to play college for a year. If your talking about #65, yes, he thinks about wether or not he is going to sit the bench behind a Junior and a Senior on a given team vs. another.

Let me explain to you how this goes normally. When Purdue is ranking high in pre-season, it is a great thing. When we are not ranking high in pre-season, ranking doesn't matter. You will see this repeatedly.
Yea...Kinda like when you hear that size doesn't matter.:D

To paraphrase your comment... "Right now Real Deal's opinion does mean much to any of us other posters..." Thanks for the chuckle, chuckle head!
