Closest to winner and score gets bragging rights.

Here are my thoughts,

First and foremost good luck to the guys and lets hope for not only a win, but for everyone to walk away injury free. This game is scheduled to do a multitude of things, but largely it helps SOS and obviously a resume builder.

I believe if called right we will wear them down, I will be interested to see how our guards rebound and defend. I believe this is a good test.

I have confidence in this squad and believe we will cut down on turnovers and pull this out!

Final: Purdue 78, Louisville 69

Boiler Up my Friends!

Side note... I will be there in person so i apologize if I am a couple bourbons deep later tonight.

Sounds like we could have a potentially decent showing house tonight? Wish I were going.
My last trip to the YUM center was a drunken escapade to see Jimmy Buffett 4 years ago.

If Louisville and Purdue are both truly top-15-quality teams, it should be a really game. Statistically, I suspect the smart money is on the home team though. But Purdue let one slip away against a better team in Nova on home turf, so maybe they'll be able edge a peer on the road. My brother-in-law is a Purdue grad and has floor seats tonight... needless to say he's pretty stoked.

Louisville fan here. Should be a really good game, respect your players as well as coaching staff, very good squad.

I think the key for us comes down to two main factors:
1) Shooting %, we have to make at least 42% of our baskets (which for us is pretty darn good)
2) Rebounding -- my concern with playing you guys is that not only do you have height you have bulk. We have a great deal of height and length but our bigs are extremely thin/weak except for Johnson. Speaking of Johnson, he tends to get in foul trouble early, which could also impact us mostly from a rebounding standpoint.

In my opinion if you guys can handle us in those two areas, you may come out with a win. However, I still think we come out with the win, although will be a battle til the buzzer.

Good Luck guys!

72-66 Louisville. Back and forth game, we fight some foul trouble and a little home cookin' and turn the ball over too much to overcome.

Pulling for the Boilers, but too much home court advantage for Louisville, plus extra motivation from their last game.

Louisville 69
Purdue 66

74-67 Boilers-KFC is sold out-however there is a decent size of Boiler fans in Southern Indiana and in Louisville.
I think it will be close through the middle of the 2nd half with Purdue pulling away due to foul trouble on UofL,
C Edwards and Swanigan leading scorers, Mathias outside shooting is the X Factor as I expect them to play a ton of zone

Louisville's athleticism will be a challenge for us not unlike Nova, but we've learned a few things about ourselves since Nova. I will not be surprised if Carson starts or at least plays starter's minutes. I also think Spike will get a few more minutes than his average. Dakota and other shooters need to hit shots (yes, Captain Obvious). Our bigs need to be fed the ball effectively, and they need to follow through with buckets Lagore in the paint. If everybody shows up & we defend well & execute the motion inside-outside game on offense we're capable of, we win. If not, probably not. My guess is Purdue wins 83 - 80.

Boilers 77
Lville 71

I think Lville is a little similar to Auburn, in that they have some athletes, but you can get them out of their game. Boilers need to ground and pound and hit the open 3s on the kick outs. Hit free throws and we should pull it out.

I think this game depends entirely on CE. I kept cringing at the TV every time Carsen took the ball in transition, ran it down the court and then threw up a 3-pointer before the other players had time to get set. Fortunately, in Cancun, he pretty much made most of those shots. If he still has the hot hand and the Louisville crowd / defense doesn't get him off target, then we have a real chance in this one. I could see him having an off night though and jacking threes leading to wasted possessions.

74-65 Louisville if Carsen is off.
75-70 Purdue if Carsen is on.

"Like" doesn't really seem like the appropriate response --- but my head tells me to agree with both of these.

My gut, though, wants me to believe that Purdue will find a way.

Boilers 66

Purdue can absolutely win this game, but other than in Bloomington a couple of years ago, I don't recall off the top of my head this squad coming through on the road in such a high profile game. Sooner or later, they have to break through....hopefully it's sooner. I just don't have a really good feel for this game and how it will actually play out based on recent play. However, I do think this year's team has a better chance to do so than last year's team.

In the end I agree......head says Louisville in a close, hard-fought contest. Heart says Boilers in a close, hard-fought contest.

While I detest Lew-ville, I think they win big because of their defense. By 10 or more. Score Lville 80 PU 67.

Carsen Edwards goes off and shreds Louisville'a zone and drops 6 threes and scores 25
Caleb Swanigan dunks on Johnson and breaks the rim causing glass to fly into the 12th row
Isaac Haas gets T'd up for being too tall
Dakota Mathais disappears for most of the game and then heats up during crunch time
Matt Painter only says "move" 356 times rather than his usual 400 due to a beautiful flow of offense.
My Prediction: Purdue-68
Louisville- 67

My friend from southern Indiana always told me I was pronouncing it wrong. She told me that the correct pronunciation only had one syllable. Kinda like "Lowl".

Hard to see us going on the road and beating a really tough team like UL. Sure hope we become the type of team/program who can do that starting tonight, but I it would be surprising.

UL 77, PU 67

If we score in the 50s I will probably have chewed my hand off. I hate games like that.
A decade or so ago, when this was common in BIG games, but also in other conferences, the media experts had a fit about it saying that is not how basketball should be played. Then the rules started to change, and now, with today's rules, grinders like that are a thing of the past for the most part. I think it hurts defensive minded head coaches like Matt and rewards up and down the court type teams.

If VE has a good game we win, if he doesn't we won't. He needs to step up and I think he will, as we really need him in a game like this. PU 78, UL 75.

I think one of Louisville strippers will run up to the court at the very end of the game and distract the Louisville players while Mathias hits the game winning 3.
