My dad went to Purdue. All my brothers went to Purdue and two of us dated our now wives at Purdue. I am 56 and have four boys, three of them have graduated from Purdue. Two are in IT and one is a Marine officer. My fourth is a junior in the school of Technology (CyberSecurity). I share this to say we are a Boiler family through and through. I found this site years ago when it was the Old Gold and Black site and fell in love with the passionate Purdue members and their updates/perspective/insights.

I have seen a number of posters come and go but always felt this was a pretty good group of Purdue fans. What I have learned over the years was said above, the older I get, the more valuable "time" becomes. That being said, my prayer is that each of you (good and bad) have a personal relationship with Jesus as each of us will die one day, then life really begins. The 80 or so years lived here will be a blip in eternity and much of what is said, argued, or celebrated will not matter one iota.

I am thankful for this group of Purdue fans and though I have never met any of you personally (at least not that I know of), but I appreciate the comradery among this group. So when one who used to post here no longer does, they are missed. My prayer for everyone is for you to use the remaining time the Good Lord has given you in a manner that brings you the most significance.

P.S. if anyone knows of an internship position for a bright CyberSecurity young man then let me know.
I think I would have enjoyed CyberSecurity. Have him hang tough...that field has to grow!!!

I have no problem with spending, but my wife does. We saved our whole life so now I have no problem letting it go. I’m not trying to save anymore and see all my friends are. They are getting cheaper by the day constantly complaining about prices. I always ask what are you saving for? They all want to leave more to the kids. They won’t do things because spending the money is not in the cards. I just don’t get it. Oh well to each their own.
Curious, what would you like to spend that money on? Travel, or maybe expensive gifts for your friends on this forum, what?

I don’t mind buying new cars, furniture, going to dinner more often, or a new home. Now that her mother has passed, hopefully we can do some traveling. She is opposed to all of the above. She is still in the save mode.

This is a great thread to read and follow along (aside from the tragic stories of course).

I'm 50, twice divorced. 1 child- she is 20 and studying pre-med at East Carolina currently. I grew up in West Lala. Harrison HS grad. Purdue grad '98. My dad worked at Purdue, as did my uncle, great uncle (he was a Dean), and a few aunts. Many family members graduated from Purdue as well (myself, brother in law, sister, cousins, etc). One of the unusual things about my fathers job that I tell people... He was the Asst VP for Student Services at Schleman Hall for 10+ years- one of his duties was to lead the graduates from the armory, around the fountain and into the Music Hall. He was ALSO one of the people on stage that you shook hands with when you got your diploma. So if you graduated Purdue from 1990s- early 2000s... you likely shook my dads hand on that stage. haha...

The day I graduated- my sister and 2 of my close cousins were also graduating. We all got to hug my dad on stage that day. It was a really cool moment.

As a kid my uncle was the equipment manager for Purdue Sports, mainly football. Growing up I got to see all the players, help him in the locker room, be on the sideline for a few games (back when Woodson played). For bball games, we used his tickets and sat where the players parents sat. I never followed pro sports (and still don't)- following Purdue sports was the best thing in the world to me- given the access I had growing up. It was very unique and special.

I've resided in the DC suburbs for over 20yrs now- I get back to Purdue for sporting events when I can. Going to the IU bball game in a couple weeks!
