I can see why after the recent election. The voters voted against his party and his policies? The only explanation for that is the American people must be stupid.

So, if you can't persuade 'em, replace 'em.

President Barack Obama will make a statement on immigration on Thursday night, followed by a rally at a Las Vegas high school with Senator Harry Reid on Friday, two sources familiar with the situation told NBC News.

The president has been long expected to make an announcement that would protect up to five million unauthorized immigrants from the threat of deportation and provide work permits.

Ah, work permits. Guess there isn't too much unemployment amongst Americans then.

Don't believe what the Democrats tell you about this plan (once they make it official). All the promises of fines, taxes, registration, border security, etc. is just a ruse to diminish opposition. If this plan ever goes into effect you can count on them to start insisting on citizenship rights, voting rights, welfare rights, and anything else to buy immigrants' votes with your money.

President Obama to make a statement on immigration

I don't think he meant for you to take that personally though.

Apparently all that education never taught him what the word "debate" means. Then again, he doesn't know what the word "legal" means either.

What were the numbers?

It is easy to find out how many people voted for Obama in 2012.

How many people voted against him in 2014?

We can check the Senate or House races but my guess is that it is far fewer than the number who voted for Romney and much much fewer than those who voted for Obama in 2012.

So hundreds of thousands or millions of Obama voters did not vote, in many cases for Senators who ran from Obama. Is that a mandate?

I am confident that the right will once again overplay its hand and shutdown the Government, impeach Obama, go to court over immigration or do something to ensure that they will lose the popular vote in the 6th out of seven elections.

Re: What were the numbers?

Obama made it a point to say that he wants the illegal aliens to come out from the shadows so that the good ones can get on track and become citizens and the bad ones can be deported. Back ground checks will be done to determine who stays and who goes. What's wrong with this logic? And yes this is a big part of his plan.

Obama made it a point to say that he wants the illegal aliens to come out from the shadows.......

Can we fine people who use such tired clichés? What the hell makes you think they're "in the shadows" anyway? I guess that doesn't include the ones protesting in the street or meeting at the WH with President Obama.

.....so that the good ones can get on track......

There are no good ones. If they're here illegally they belong in their home countries.

.....and the bad ones can be deported.

Yeah, like he and the rest of the Democrat party are going to vigorously deport potential Democrat voters.

Back ground checks will be done to determine who stays and who goes. What's wrong with this logic?

Its a ruse. What's the point of passing new laws if the current laws aren't being enforced? The Democrats will promise all these tough new measures in order to allow potential Democrat voters to stay here. Then they'll just not enforce the tough new measures.

Re: What were the numbers?

What measures aren't being enforced and who is responsible for this enforcement? Why hasn't the responsible party been able to enforce the laws? I'm in agreement with you on the aspect of not passing new laws when we aren't necessarily enforcing the ones in place. However, most of the lack of enforcement comes from businesses not doing their due diligence in background checks and turning illegals in to the authorities. The money (businesses) want to keep the cheap labor so that their customers will be happy with cheaper prices. When money doesn't like what is going on then money will grease the wheels of congress to get something done. That's the way things work when corporations are allowed to run our government.

Re: What were the numbers?

Well, multiple times laws and funding were passed to secure the border, including building a fence. If that had been done then we wouldn't have so many illegals here and Obama wouldn't have the justification to give them amnesty via executive order. Its his job to secure the border and, yes, deport illegals. Its not his job to confer benefits to illegals that haven't been passed by Congress.

Along with higher social service costs. Too bad not enough people make the connection.

That's the way things work when corporations are allowed to run our government.

And if we drastically reduce the size and scope of government they'll have less interest in lobbying.
