I'm not even mad. As a Purdue fan of 20 years, i knew exactly what was coming!
My take.
1. We really need a running game! I think it was more of a line issue than Horvath.
2. I don't want to see Ben Holt on the field unless it's special teams. I was not impressed watching him in fall camp, and come b1g play he'll get ate alive in coverage.
3. 5 freaking turnovers? 5?!
4. I have an opinion about similar too, but I won't even go there...
Oh well, basketball season isn't too far away. I'm goin to bed! Mindless drunken rant over!
One in the same in that I saw it coming well before it actually happened, and, knew it was going to happen as soon as they gave the ball back to Nevada up 7.
It was only a matter of whether they managed to lose in regulation or overtime at that point.
They have no running game...and, it is a combination of both the line and Horvath, as, neither is good enough to make a positive difference in B1G play against a legitimate.
opponent.
Holt absolutely should not be starting...if that is the best option that they have, it is only one more concern and flaw that was not known going into the game, but, it incredibly clear coming out of it.
The turnovers were brutal...with a key one by someone least expected to make one, and, unfortunately, it was a horrible one. Sindelar's were completely predictable...in fact, Purdue was very fortunate for that matter that there were not more. He will lose more games for Purdue due to his decision making than he will win due to his strong arm...simple as that. He has the exact same weaknesses now that he had two years ago when he was initially named the starter and should not have been. Super nice kid and a big arm, but, just horrible decision making, does not value the ball at all, and, locks in on a receiver with no ability to move through progressions.
If tonight was any indication at all, it is going to be a long year...none of the concerns that existed going into the game were addressed (much less mitigated), and, there are additional ones now coming out of it.
