Purdue also rotated 3 tackles quite a bit. I don't expect a drop off.Not every DL. But missing your starting OT will hurt a lot. We’ve operated without Cade a lot this season. We know how to play and win without him.

Ya. It's hard to get sacks when you are triple teamed every third play. There is a reason he will go top 5.Didn’t he only have like 5 sacks?
Guess we will see. Tennessee leads the nation in scoring differential in the first qtr. If playing from behind is a flaw for you guys, this isn’t the match up for you.We stumbled out of the gate at OSU and were playing from behind the entire game. We had some TOs and special teams gaffes early in that game. Our defense is much better than Tennessee’s. Also, Notre Dame and Michigan State both have very potent offenses. We held both below their averages for the year.
You know more about Purdue than Purdue fans? Long missed some games and our offense played great without him. It was during the final stretch of games where O’Connell hit 74% of his passes for almost 2,000 yards and 12TDs and 0 INTs.Not every DL. But missing your starting OT will hurt a lot. Brohm is an excellent game planner and he’s 4-1 in bowl games.Guess we will see. Tennessee leads the nation in scoring differential in the first qtr. If playing from behind is a flaw for you guys, this isn’t the match up for you.
Playing behind vs osu vs anyone else is very different.Brohm is an excellent game planner and he’s 4-1 in bowl games.
Agreed especially in front of 105K people at their place.Playing behind vs osu vs anyone else is very different.
I feel like this guy thinks they are osu on offense. They are just missing the first round draft pick at QB, RB, WR1, WR2, WR3.Agreed especially in front of 105K people at their place.
Super important game. Make sure y'all come back and tell us how awesome you are after you win the whogivesafuk.com bowl. As usual thanks for stopping by your life must be amazing.
I feel like this guy thinks they are osu on offense. They are just missing the first round draft pick at QB, RB, WR1, WR2, WR3.
They’re like year 4 or 5 in a system. Tennessee is year 1 and is easily the second best offense you will see all year. Purdue will be about the 6th best. And that was with both teams at full strength. OSU is better than us offensively. No issue admitting that. But you act like UT will be the worst team you’ve faced all season. And that’s not the case.I feel like this guy thinks they are osu on offense. They are just missing the first round draft pick at QB, RB, WR1, WR2, WR3.
No I don't. I act like it's two fairly evenly matched teams playing each other. Tennessee might have a slightly better offense and Purdue a better defense. They’re like year 4 or 5 in a system. Purdues defense is about 7 points better despite only facing 1 top 20 scoring offense. Tennessee faced 3 top 6 offenses and 4 in the top 20. I think if Purdue faced Ole Miss, Pitt and Bama, they’d average a TD more than they did too.No I don't. I act like it's two fairly evenly matched teams playing each other. So it will be a game of offense? Agreed. It will probably be 30 or so scored by each team.Purdues defense is about 7 points better despite only facing 1 top 20 scoring offense. You guys aren’t close to OSU as a team.Closest thing Purdue has seen to OSU all year. Yards per play, OSU: 7.5 Tennessee: 6.5
Maybe. This defense does well against 1 dimensional teams, especially if they don’t have a running QB.So it will be a game of offense? Agreed. It will probably be 30 or so scored by each team.
No UCONN was the worst team we played this season. We beat them 49-0. Indinia wasn’t far behind. That was 44-7.They’re like year 4 or 5 in a system. You are going to be surprised by our defense. It’s better than you’re giving it credit for.42-20 Vols
If you have Bell and Wright, I would have agreed with you.

So the pass defense is good? Not sure if it’s you or another poster, but they’ve really harped on how bad Tennessee is on defense… but I think that unit is better than their statistics would reflect.
I think they could have a really good day Thursday, relatively speaking.
You'd be the first this year to stop it.... and I'm not sure there is anything special about the Tennessee defense.Maybe. This defense does well against 1 dimensional teams, especially if they don’t have a running QB.
I think Tennessees stats were deflated by playing 4 top 15 scoring offenses and Purdues were inflated by playing 2 top 50 scoring offenses. Swap schedules and I could really see our numbers swapping too.Not sure if it’s you or another poster, but they’ve really harped on how bad Tennessee is on defense… but I think that unit is better than their statistics would reflect.

Now do how many top 20 defenses Purdue offense played vs the Tennessee offense.I think Tennessees stats were deflated by playing 4 top 15 scoring offenses and Purdues were inflated by playing 2 top 50 scoring offenses. Swap schedules and I could really see our numbers swapping too.
2 for UT vs I believe 3 for Purdue. But it’s the Big 10. Iowa, Northwestern, Nebraska. All had “really good defenses” the year we faced them and scored at will. Now do how many top 20 defenses Purdue offense played vs the Tennessee offense.
When you say "it's the big ten" are you implying the SEC is better?2 for UT vs I believe 3 for Purdue. But it’s the Big 10. Iowa, Northwestern, Nebraska. All had “really good defenses” the year we faced them and scored at will.
I disagree. Notre Dame is the second best offense we’ve faced this year. Tennessee does have a potent offense when it’s playing well (especially since Hooker took over for Joe Milton). Not arguing that we are. I’m saying we’re the second best offense Purdue has faced this season.
So the pass defense is good?
It’s a well-below average SEC secondary - like 12th out of 14 teams. It’s an average SEC secondary IMO.
More importantly, what does this defense look like vs a one dimensional offense? Or does Purdue find more ground game with a month off to work on it?
Again. Calling the Purdue offense 1 dimensional doesn't do it justice because they run pass plays that are essentially run plays. They use the pass as an extension of the run, but then also hit you with the intermediate and deep passes. It’s an average SEC secondary IMO.

We are at our best when we have a semblance of balance. If Purdue can rush for 100 yards or more it likely means Purdue is having a lot of success moving the ball and scoring on Tennessee.
And you think they will do better vs a QB that has just as good of an arm?I was referring to ability, not statistics.
As I’ve pointed out, I think this defense is better than their numbers suggest.
We played Kenny Pickett, Matt Coral, and Bryce Young this season. No one else in the country can sniff that.
And you think they will do better vs a QB that has just as good of an arm?
Maybe not, but there is still some solid WR and TE talent playing. A good QB makes their WR's better. O'Connell can do that.Dont have near the WR talent that those teams have with your top couple guys out.
Tennessee averages 7.1 yards per attempt allowed and Purdue averages 7 ypa allowed passing. Yes Tennessee has allowed more yards but they also have the ball a lot less because they scored so fast and so much. It’s a well-below average SEC secondary - like 12th out of 14 teams.
