I don’t like it at all. For many of the reasons Brian stated. The question is will this dawn a new era of superteams, or will it not really make a difference? Bear with me. Recruiting rankings don’t always translate to on court success. Will NIL $$$ change the recruiting profile of schools? I’m not sure it will. And on top if it, you’re going to have highly recruited players that may be less likely to put in the work. $250,000 is a lot of money and it’s incredible how many people flame out when they have more than they imagined. The end result is this whole thing may sort it self out over the next few years. So, while I don’t like it, maybe it works in favor of schools like Purdue in the long run?

The part that does bother me is that most athletes never become NBA/NFL regulars. And for these athletes, their degree is far more valuable in the long run than the NIL money. I simply hope NIL money doesn’t deter some of these kids from completing their degree.
