The featured NBA Draft writer (Sam Vecenie) on The Athletic has his latest mock draft (v3) up and moved Ivey up to #5 to the Spurs. Had a glowing piece on Ivey’s performance last weekend and calls him the best guard in the country. Surprising (to me) is that he has Edey going 41st to those same Spurs!

“The first player moving up is Purdue’s Jaden Ivey, who slides to No. 5 on the board. He was outstanding at the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, an event attended by a significant number of NBA scouts and executives. He produced a terrific 32 points, 16 rebounds and 13 assists (versus only two turnovers) in the two games, but the eye test was even better. Each game was drastically different in terms of tempo, showing he can play any style of game effectively. The Villanova game was played at a crawling pace, and he just steadily ran the offense and made plays. He had seven assists versus only one turnover and did exactly what Matt Painter and company needed him to do as Zach Edey dominated inside. The North Carolina game was played at a breakneck pace, and Ivey showcased his full arsenal. He had the best three-play sequence I’ve seen from any prospect this year about midway through the second half.”
