A veteran ball handler? An athletic wing with length? A lockdown defender type that’s scrappy?

Technically 3 scholarships left, but I think at least 2 will go to walk-ons from this past year that still have eligibility. Teams now get 15 scholarships and no walk-ons. No traditional scholarship player currently in the portal will be aiming at being #13, even if it means a chance to (not) play in a final 4.

Unless he finds another senior who's just happy to play on a championship team, he probably saves it for the walk-ons.

The interesting "problem" is he's going to have what at least five seniors leave in 26-27, and possibly Meyer going pro which would be 6 guys leaving, so it's pretty likely we get multiple portal guys in next year too. I mean if we have a great season then that's going to be a good "problem."

I think another 6-8" to 6'10" athletic wing who can shoot and play defense would be a nice complimentary piece.

I wouldn't turn down another in your face defensive wizard with quick hands but honestly we don't need any more guards short or long term. Even after Braden leaves Mayer, Cox, Harris, and Ertel could all play the point.

Even if we lose 5 or 6 players next season we will be able to backfill with 2026 freshmen and Euro/Transfer players. I'm not concerned about the future, we have the tools to win now and we need to win a Natty to shut IU fans up forever. I'm tired of hearing about their dusty banners, we need to close that door.

My gut says the roster is complete.

I think it's highly unlikely we add anyone else. There just aren't any minutes for anyone to come into. A few days left of the portal entrance being open, but barring any other exits, I think we are done.

I could see the potential of adding a 5th year senior who has aspirations of being a future coach. He could learn a lot from Painter and Brantly. He could be like Gillis at Duke. Or maybe someone who is willing to wait until next year and redshirts this year. Or maybe one of the players who left Michigan st. That has given up their dream of being an nba star and just wants to play for a winner. The team is basically now set! Maybe that Booker guy from MSU. Maybe someone from IU. Maybe the guy from SIU will lower his demands. Maybe painter will give a scholarship to one of our walkons

I have to believe there is an experienced player who can see this is a potential championship team And wants to be a part of it. A player who is willing to accept limited minutes and be a team player.

I’m going to be bold and make a suggestion most people wouldn’t think about. Maybe Waddell or Berg will return and go back to being that last guy on the bench.
