Join the fun on the Lobos board

Sad thing is after I browsed 2-3 threads it locked me out saying that I had to create an account to keep viewing. Lame.

They seem to think there's a chance for an upset here. I'm not saying there's no chance, but how good are they realistically? I mean, if we play another game like we did against Lehigh, then any team could beat us. But supposing we play okay at home... do they really have a chance?

Looks like they can play zone, press, and run a lot. Those are three things that could, in theory, hurt us. With the zone, we were able to make adjustments against a (presumably?) better Pitt team, and get back to scoring in the paint. Hopefully we can do that again. In terms of the press, both Florida and Pitt tested us there, and I think we did okay. And in terms of running/transition points, it has been a problem at times, but we have handled it well overall.

So it seems like those three weapons against us can be neutralized with good coaching and tough play. Lastly, it looks like they can hit threes pretty well, so we will need to make sure to guard the perimeter well and not let them get open looks. This is where RayDay would be helpful, but I'm okay with him missing another if it's needed to get back to 100%. Stephens will be able to play good perimeter defense, and we will need other guys to lock it down as well.

This is one of those teams that is used to scoring 90 a game and running and gunning against similar teams. They are in for a terrible reality check. Purdue by double digits. If they wanted a win they should have scheduled the loosiers.

Anyone know where they are predicted to finish in the Mountain West? I saw SDSU is the favorite in the conference.

KenPom says we win by 14.

I like how other teams fans try to figure out how to stop our offense and completely disregard how well we play defense.

All I keep hearing is how this guy and that guy need to do this and that but never a word about how we stop guys from doing what they do so well.

Ray may be out until Butler and I am fine with that. We need him healthy and our defense needs to be strong all around.

Prepare for a ride on the Pain Train Lobos.

They compared us to Goliath. Even though that is fitting given our front court, it still feels weird, as a Purdue fan, to not be the spoiler-maker.

Regarding their bench, I saw a mention on their board that they had three guys sick for the last game. So that could explain lack of depth temporarily. Also thing they have an injured guy (who appears to still be injured).

That makes sense. I also saw them mention that if we shut down Williams and Neal it will be a very long night for them. Let's introduce them to a little Boilermaker Defense!

I went over there. I have to admit, I think Threadkiller is going to really challenge Boilers Rock!!
Threadkiller even gets into the Christmas spirit. I like that and I like red.

They seem to be going to the lab for a solution to us. They have had some good tradition and players in the past. More than ever before, our team doesn't take teams lightly even at home especially with our team focus. I think if we stay on task we'll be fine. Teams that are decent with nothing to lose scare me a bit though. That's just my nature.

Tips
Mix some zone and press vs. PU.
And run your face into haas's elbow when he's posting up - they're still calling him on it

Here's a quote from their board: "Lobos need to take their defense to another level and prepare for a physical game. Nikola will have to play a factor as a backup in this game. Lobos can win this game."

They have confidence in their team, that is for sure. Can't sleep on them, but shouldn't be close if we play Purdue ball.

The Lobos board seems fairly reasonable, unlike some other fan boards.

I do, however, find it amusing when one of them says that he thinks they're "better" than Purdue. I certainly think they COULD beat Purdue, just as just about any team could get hot from the 3-point line and beat a cold-shooting team, but there is no way that they are better than Purdue.

I thought Purdue's football team "could" beat MSU, but I never thought Purdue was the better team.

There are more threads popping up over there with lots of them thinking they should win this game. Come on, man....

They must be planning on building a ten foot brick wall right in front of the basket to stop AJ and Isaac

Good for them. I hope they keep it up. Looking fwd to crushing the hopes and dreams of another fanbase.

Isn't this game at Mackey?!? I could understand having a little sliver of hope if we were coming to their house in NM, but fuggin please. We aren't losing to the damn New Mexico Lobos in our house. gtfo.

I agree with what has been said here, BUT(yeah, a big but) PU is becoming the hunted instead of the hunter in some respect. Do not let this be one of those infamous "trap" games, where a let down equates to a loss. With that in mind, let's stomp a mudhole in that ass....and walk it dry.
