Jeff vs. WL Rivalry Resumes After 65yrs

The rivalry resumes after a 65 year hiatus. Unfortunately Jeff got beat 38-29. I wish I could have come back for it. Did anyone go to the game? The article on the game mainly focuses on offense since there was a lot of it. I am wondering how Karlaftis played overall and Yanni as well. The one thing they mentioned was this: “Purdue recruit George Karlaftis batted down Maximus Grimes' pass, one of two bat downs at the line Friday night.”

I was at the HHS/Westfield game (I run music for the home games) and went to the WL/Jeff game after. Was able to watch the entire 4th Q from the parking lot. WL made some incredible plays on the offensive side to get the lead but the defense clamped down in the 4th. I’d venture to say Jeff had the ball 3 times and maaaybe had 20 total yards.

Looks like IHSAAtv is working on their website. Some links don't seem to be working at the moment.
They or their affiliates broadcast five games on the 17th. Doesn't look like they did the Jeff /WL game.

Anyone know way they had not played in 65 years? I asked my dad and he said it was a fight that took place and some people got hurt? Not sure if that is the whole story or not.

J&C did an article on it a couple days before the game. My parents said it was because of all the fighting and injuries that resulted from the game each year. The article said WL was a lot smaller than Purdue as well so it doesn't sound like they could really compete that well with Jeff back in the day. Obviously that isn't the case any longer.

My buddy texted me from the McCutcheon vs WL game last night. He said Karlaftis looks like a man among boys. WL won the game 34-20. McCutcheon plays Jeff next week.
