Well, this is a pisser. I hope he maintains his loyalty (again) to the kids he brought to Purdue.

If Louisville couldn’t pull him away, I have a hard time seeing Florida pulling it off.
My thoughts exactly. Mother & Father are 3 hr drive ea way vs 11.5 hr drive ea way. I suspect coach CJB can fly as frequent as needed via Purdue airport with certified Pilots at the ready. Not every University has that feature and Florida University does not have that.
If Louisville is a target recruiting area, which I suspect it is, then they fire up the jet quite frequently.;)

I’d be really surprised if Florida moves on from Mullen. Three top tier bowls in four years, one SEC title appearance and they beat UGA last year. They will win out with an easy schedule and this rumor about Mullen getting fired will disappear. He’s a solid coach.

It would seem to be a common refrain that Florida can pay more than Purdue. They can, not I don’t think it’s that important.

He gets like $4.5MM a year here. Mullen gets $7MM. Would that extra money entice him? I don’t really think so for a guy that famously drove a clunker car.

The far more important factor is where he thinks he can have the most success. At Florida, he has to be better than Georgia. At Purdue, he had to be better than Wisconsin. Which is easier?

Considering he had no ties to Florida, and is within a few hours of Louisville, I’m not that concerned.

We have to worry about Louisville, before the Florida job.

Isn’t he getting more like $6 million per year all in here?

My guess is Brohm will continue to build Purdue up as he waits for an NFL offer as an OC or HC.

It makes the most sense for him. He studies the NFL every week and cribs plays from the best offenses. He played at the professional level. He can rely more on scheme in the NFL with less concern for talent level or depth, which has limited him at Purdue, and would do the same at nearly any other college.

NFL HC? yes, OC? Don’t see that happening.

I don’t think he’s all about the money but the average OC makes 1 million a year. He’s not going to take a 75-85% pay cut to be an assistant coach, NFL or not.

You're probably correct. An OC job would be his "in" though, which could open the door to the eventual HC job.

Warm weather. No snow. Huge recruiting base. More money. But I doubt they're interested in Brohm.
Nah... nobody's interested in Brohm.

They're all ringing up Les Miles!

(TD, you make this too easy! 😉 )

There are some people that simply aren't into that "Florida thing". He has strong connections to the midwest, and there are zero indications that he's interested in moving farther away from family and friends.

If we ever win the big ten, that would be his in to get a HC in the NFL.

If Brohm wins the big ten especially if that means playoffs for us, he is gone. That said, I would love to have that problem of losing Brohm for that reason, lol.

Hehe... coaches are either on the hot seat or under threat to be scavenged away.

I'd hate to see Brohm leave just when he appears to be gaining back some of the ground that might have been lost during the lost pandemic season(s), but he's got to do what he wants.

Has he ever stated the NFL as a goal of his? He just seems like a much better fit for college. NFL coaches have to delegate.. A LOT.

But they dont have to recruit, so that would be nice. But with what Brohm makes, NFL might not be a big step up in pay, and many, many NFL cities have a much higher cost of living than Lafayette. Plus not many are close to his beloved Louisville, so outside of the Colts, not sure the NFL would entice Brohm.

Florida is down 42-28 to Stamford at half.

i think it’d be a mistake to fire Mullen after one bad season, but how’d they get this bad?

Not hearing a single peep of that here. Jacksonville/St Augustine, is pretty much Gator country. Purdue will need to have much better success for the arrogant Gators to want to go after Brohm.

Florida needs to understand they aren’t relevant anymore. Neither is FSU.

Hell it feels more like Dawg country here in Jax
