IU's Next BB Coach is

The same "best fan base" that booed their team multiple times this year at that "top 5 venue"
Sure, OK.
That fan base eats their own...maybe more than most...but the people doing that may not be grads. What is obvious is just how important it is for them to have a team win, but perhaps if the last couple of decades Purdue had been similar, Purdue might be out with the pitchforks? They have a LOT of talent on the team this year...and that talent has some age, and experience, and could get it together at any time. If they do, would Woodson come out of retirement? ;)

When you have Top 5 NIL money, one of the largest and best fan bases in the nation, a Top 5 venue, Big Ten money, national TV time... Yea it's still a Top 10 job.
Not a top five venue. Even during bad years top venues don’t have that many empty seats during games. The size and passion of the fan base is quickly fading as well due to the lack of success.

Definitely your opinion that they’re a top 5 venue and best fan base. How do we know they have top 5 NIL money? I think you’d be surprised at how much money schools have and I wouldn’t be surprised if IU doesnt have top 10
When Assembly Hall is rocking, I'd only put Phog Allen over it. And yes, Indiana has Top 5 NIL money thanks to their NIL collectives. This roster is getting paid about 6M at least. You'd be surprised as to how little most schools have.

A good coach would have this team in the Top half of the conference and in a position to battle for a conference title down the stretch. Woody is not that. And nothing is going to allow him to return next season.

Because people wanted change. And nothing speaks more than empty seats. I've seen those seats filled for a 10 win team.
IU hasn’t had a 10 win team since 2010, when it was just 8 years removed from a Final Four. Are you certain things haven’t changed with another 15 years having passed? Today’s IU students don’t have a lot of success in their memory banks.

I’ll bet if they got hot for a couple of weeks and say…got to the elite 8 it may not be that clear. They have a lot of talent that has under performed this year…that is true

THEY DEMAND EXCELLENCE !!
Is this a demand or just expectations?

They spend more money in NIL, best fan base, top 5 venue and expect wins. The are not willing for a coach to establish their own culture, because of these expectations. Probably why they are treading water every single year.

Ever since they started using LEDs, its' been about the bright lights! ;)

Never say never, but I couldn't image CMP leaving Purdue for another school. I have to BELIEVE that Purdue will grow Matt's compensation with continued progrsm success.

Never met the guy on person, but he strikes me the kind of guy who is humble with his measly salary. Guessing he is a no-car payment / no house-payment kind of guy.
I'll say it....Painter to iu? Never in a million years.

It seems that IU fans still consider IU an elite basketball school and that coaches all over the country (such as Bred Stevens) are falling all over each other to get this job. They don't seem to realize that ship sailed years ago and they have tried multiple coaches and many millions of dollars buying out contracts in hopes of finding the next Bob Knight. Maybe they will now think of themselves as an elite football school.
iu basketball is the Nebraska of college football.

He'd still be gone. Fans are done and aren't going to sit through crap year in and year out.

According to most of the fan base this has been an issue since RMK and to replace a coach every 4ish years since is the bigger issue.

I get it. You guys want to win.....now. Unless, you get a guy with a higher ego than most. This pattern may continue.

The boosters run the show there and that’s why they can’t get a good coach. They said that they will never again allow a coach to get bigger than the university and they meant it.

IU is the job a coach takes when he wants to kill his career. Sure the NIL is huge but it comes with a lot of strings attached.

Slick is a New York city kind of guy. He likes it where he is, and Bloomington doesn't have the amenities for a New York city kind of guy.
He's been at both Kentucky and Louisville, both within spitting distance of Bloomington. He also nailed a woman-not-his-wife on a dinner table at a restaurant named Porcini's in Louisville. I think the place was renamed Porkini's after that.

🙄 But Lexington is still much more of an urban environment than Bloomington. Louisville is too. Both have great restaurants, finer dining, clothiers, and way more niceties than you could ever get in Trailer City.

IU might land Little Slick though.

My wild-card hunch is Rick Pitino.
Not going to happen. Unless, things have changed.

I have a buddy who was with the program and continues many relationships within. According to him Rick wanted this position before and was turned down because of his Hawaii issues not even his Louisville problems. If they don't give Beard an interview then Rick won't even get a phone call.

I would be one pissed off loosier if I contributed toward 6 mil for THAT team. :)
