IU...Trying to Pull Defeat frm Jaws of Victory....I

This couldn't happen to better fan base or coach...
Crean is about as arrogant as they come; how we forget a short 3-4 years ago when IU was a much better team up on Purdue at Mackey by 18 with 2:00 left, most coached empty their bench but the creamster keeps his starters in and continues to press. You didn't hear the fan base belly aching then, I hope we beat these Assw*pes by 40 on Tuesday and Painter returns the favor.

No Heller, he didn't do what "he had to do". Brand, being a total control freak, knew that the team Bob had assembled with Jeffries and the others would certainly be a force, with a very good chance that Bob/IU would hang another banner. Brand was not going to let that happen because he'd never be able to get Knight out of his hair should that or a long run in the tourney happen. There were far more egregious things Knight could have been dismissed for than grabbing a kid's arm and correcting the way he addressed an adult.

Brand was far from a victim.....pompous @$$, narcissist, total control freak maybe....but never a victim.

I'll not sully this board any more within this post.

Actually, I can agree with much of this. I don't know if they would win the tourney or not. I don't dislike Knight...at one time I might have years ago. I don't think his behavior was held to the standard I think it should have...adn I blame IU for that. Even then as previously mentioned there were things to appreciate about his players. I blame IU for Knight's dismissal. As Bob won more games, more was expected for him and by him... to a point of perhaps very difficult situations. In driving players to reach goals they didn't think were possible, Bob elevated his motivational techniques and as long as Bob won...IU turned an eye. This continued because IU liked winning and all it brought, ignored the side of Bob that needed adjustment, and only saw his good side as there were many good things. IU grew Knights behavior and then when IU didn't win, they canned Knight on a bogus charge. As you said, Bob committed many more disturbing acts than what got him fired. In my mind it said much more about IU than Bob...
Now, I might not have said that 30 years ago, but seeing how IU grew the situation and then picked something much more minor than many previous things to fire him it shed a light on IU moreso than Bob's last event.

Crean coached teams tend to get worse and dumber as the season progresses. Wonder what would happen if Crean were smart enough to swallow that huge ego and sit on the sidelines and let the players play

Arrogant nails it. His players finally figured it out. You can tell they aren't listening to his shenanigans anymore. When creamy is up in their face and they are looking at the cheerleaders, nothing is sinking in. 40 would be nice too. 50 better.

Wait a second, I recall Peegsters lionizing Crean for his coaching strategy and recruiting. They quoted some statistic about his teams' high percentage of scoring after a timeout as proof of his insight and wonderful coaching. Now the same folks tell us that he is incompetent. I also remember the "...he developed D Wade..." comments. Let's not have revision of history here.

However, I think that roundfootball is in error. Wasn't it Sampson that snagged Gordon? And did that not cause the issues with Weber when he was at U of I?

Right on! I can't keep the creepy IU coach revolving door straight anymore. Forgot that was phone call one, not the choker or the clapper.

Bad example...who wouldn't look at the cheerleaders instead of Crean :)

No my friend doesn't equal my opinion...but I do believe Crean will be back at IU. Were he going to be fired, Glass would have done it by now, put one of the assistants in charge, and began the search. And Crean isn't going to give up that huge IU salary to go to a lesser program.

One of us will be right, and I trust someone closer to the situation than you.

More than fair, but I still very, very strongly disagree with your conclusion that Crean will be back. The back channels search is already well underway, the money is there (and then some), if Crean was staying there would have been some calming of the waters by Glass by now, and Crean would have gotten a token bullshirt extension for recruiting purposes. AND, insider info of his departure has been distributed via private messages on IU boards from many many many sources.

Sorry, but he is as gone as gone can be.

Top candidate(s), according to these insiders?

If I said, you guys would accuse me of flaming.
Not Stevens, but would be some happy Hoosiers. It's all over the IU boards tonight.

Anyway, that's not the major takeaway, yet. Crean is a goner is the overarching conclusion for now.

If you drink, I'll wager a tall one of your favorite beverage that Crean is IU's coach next year. Personally, I couldn't stand the guy when he was at Marquette but IU deserves him after hiring Davis and Sampson in front of him.

My one remaining contact in the IU Athletic office was right about Davis being fired...remember how so many had him gone the year prior, and he told me about the phone calls before the press got wind of it. And he's saying that Crean is safe.

I don't go to the IU boards. Besides Stevens, who they all think will leave the NBA for Bloomington, the IU faithful always talk about Cal, Pitino, and Donovan. Be ready for more sanctions.

Hmmmm....HoosierFanJM sure sounds like fkfootball. Another username maybe????
Nope.
That poster is on this board and many IU boards, always under the same handle as far as I can tell. That poster doesn't seem to troll or flame much; not sure why he would need another identity. I'm not him.

Also; I'll wager that drink with you; I'm gonna be tipping something either way. Only variable is whether it will be champagne or hemlock ;)

Champagne, not hemlock for Hoosier Nation.
