While typical, isn't this considered to chauvinist or slut-shaming? I thought that was a no-no on a "woke" campus today. Our "friend"' (lackof)courtsense will undoubtedly claim that this chant never happened.

The ironic part of it is that on the other site there are some defending this chant while offended by "IU sucks!" chant. Strikes me as a double standard.

Also, didn't the IU Admin have to apologize after they chanted racist things at a MD player a while ago? I wonder if the Admin will say anything this time.

So, the same girl has dated both of these guys:

-One from Ontario, who went to college at Vermont and then St John's (NY)
-One raised in Indiana, going to college at Indinia

Who both just happen to be D1 basketball players.

Maaaybe that isn't a jersey chaser situation..

If that isn't a jersey chaser situation, I'd be curious to know how they happened to cross paths.
She went to Center Grove with Jackson-Davis and then went to Vermont on a basketball scholarship where she started dating the other guy. Not really weird at all if you think about it.

Was at the game last night, both players actually seemed to reel it in, Smith from St. John's chuckled the first time the chant went up while he was at the line in between foul shots. Didn't look there was any animosity between the two.

St. John's website was trolling TJD with tweets showing side by side pictures the girl with a young TJD, and then with Smith looking all blissed out. That tweet traveled into the student section. That's how the chant was generated.

Think Emma was amused?

Zero profanity. Zero actual names were used. St. Johns brought this on themselves for tweeting about it first.

I hate IU as much as the next guy, but this is a reach. This was the exact thing that college basketball missed without fans in the stands. We finally have it back, let's enjoy it.

Just keep the “IU Sucks!” chant. It so infuriates people like the poster you mention, who melts down in fury every time he hears it. So funny how easy it is to punk WalMarters like him and his cousins.

Well at least it wasn't the racist stuff they were chanting at Maryland a number of years ago when even their own coach (Crean) called them out on it. Guess "Woody" doesn't have similar standards. I bet Bob Knight would've taken the microphone and put an end to it. I saw him do it a number of times for things far less vulgar. He at least had standards for the conduct of the fans, if not himself.

They chanted sloppy seconds. Vulgar? Holy shit.

I bet some parents had a nice time explaining that one to their 8-year-old son or daughter. Not as tidy as a simple "Bullshit" chant where you just tell your kid that it's a bad word and they should never repeat it.
I’m sure a simple, “it’s a joke that you’ll laugh at and appreciate in a few years” would have been suffice, but yeah…..vulgar.

Don’t overthink this.

Classless...just as the OP titled the thread, but, entirely expected as such given all of the other classless things said and done there in Ass Hall...as appropriate a name as there may be.

To think the "fans" feelings were hurt by the very accurate "IU Sucks" chant...I get it though...the truth hurts.

Don't know, don't really care.
Response comes as so surprise at all...exactly what I would have expected.

Actually, I would have expected no response in that it is so dumb to respond in any way other than "Great point, and, the chant was indeed classless and inappropriate." But, the Indinia fans never disappoint...so the "don't know/don't care" response is far more fitting.

Defend this all you want, but IU fans forfeit the ability to whine and complain when they’re on the other end of classless stuff like this. And no fan base whines and complains more (see the constant sobbing about “IU Sucks!”). But there’s been far, far worse directed at opposing teams through the years at IU. “Sloppy seconds” isn’t even on the Dishonorable Mention list.

They weren't chanting at her dummy....

They were chanting at him, and he clearly didn't care based on his mannerisms. He laughed.

Who would have thought college kids had a sense of humor?

A parent with the IQ of an 8-year old trying to explain it to their 8-year old child...I can only imagine the depth of that conversation/explanation.

"Don't overthink this..."

So appropriate for the thinking-challenged Indinia fanbase...in fact, should be the mantra there if it is not already.

IU fans whine like little bitches that PU students chant "IU Sucks," but have no problem with their fans directing vulgar chats at an individual (not a school or team). Classless hypocrites.

I'm sure the young lady's parents WHO WERE IN ATTENDANCE enjoyed IU students referring to their daughter as "sloppy seconds."

Right no way she would be offended by that. Not at all.

I think we can 100% confirm that yes IU sucks!
Bet she laughed and the sun came up today.

This isn't really even an issue if the St. John's Barstool Twitter account hadn't aired the dirty laundry in the first place and I'm guessing if it was that big of a deal the tweet that aired the dirty laundry would have been deleted rather quickly.

Don't ever overestimate a college students desire for clout.

Again, they weren't chanting at her......
Tim, you're usually pretty level-headed on this forum, but for this topic you're wrong.

It's not just about him, it's about her.

I'd be highly offended if that was being chanted and directed at someone which whom my daughter had a dating relationship. You might not want it to be about her, but the implication is clear: she gets around and sleeps with the basketball players.

She’s not an average student. She’s an elite athlete and doesn’t need to look for clout.

She previously dated an Indiana player while in high school and currently dates a now St. John's player who previously attended Vermont, the same school she plays basketball at.

It would have been one thing if the chant was aimed directly at her while she was in attendance (she wasn't), rather it was in good humor to an earlier tweet made by a St. John's account who aired their dirty laundry earlier in the day. The player whom the chant was directed, Stef Smith, took it in good faith and actually smiled as the chant first rang out. I was at the game and saw him grin at the foul line in-between shots. There was ZERO animosity between TJD and Smith during the game and I'm sure it's something they'll both laugh at as well as the girlfriend. Believe it or not, college kids have a sense of humor too.

If it was that big of a deal to the young lady in question, the original tweet would have been deleted right there and then nor would it still be up today. People are WAYYY overthinking this.

You guys that are troubled by this need to attend a game there sometime. Guarantee if you did, you’d absolutely walk out of there thinking this was nothing.

I had the opportunity to sit right behind the Purdue bench for our trip to Assembly Hole in 2010. You would not believe the profane vitriol that was directed toward Chris Kramer’s mom that night. I’ll be the first to admit that I have some 4-letter words in my vocabulary, but I was astounded at just how deep-seeded the bitterness and anger was. It was hateful and it got awkward and downright uncomfortable after the game. I think Kramer’s dad was about to tear the limbs off some drunken, vulgar IU student, but a couple other dads in the Purdue party who clearly knew him stepped in and cooler heads prevailed. It can get REAL ugly down there. Chanting “sloppy seconds” is romper room level stuff for them.

The only reason they chanted THAT, to HIM, is because of HER.

You are WAYYY over-excusing this.

It was vulgar, it was gross, and it was really wrong.

And HE, the ONE who had the chant directed at HIM, clearly didn't mind.

I remember that. There were some IU fans who denied it happened and others who said Kramer's mom deserved it. I don't know what their home life is like, but I guess being raised by your crack-head mom in a trailer park wouldn't teach you common civility towards a mother.
