It is the Tuesday before the first game...score predictions?

Meh, no matter, has was TE coach and ST coordinator at Tennessee but has never been an OC. New staff, no starting QB named, I just don't see how they score 45 points right out of the gate.

Both their QBs are good though. Not naming a starter is not an indication that neither are talented.

I never said they weren't talented, just pointing out my reasons why I don't think they will outscore us this Saturday. Two very talented QBs don't make a good team. I thought Etling and Appleby were talented QBs but our team still sucked balls with Shoop calling plays.

I dont think we will lose either. I also dont think it will be a runaway.

You sound like you need "trigger warnings" and a "safe space" to avoid all the "microaggressions" being directed at you.

LOL - Well, that's a new one.

I hope I'm wrong, end of story.

Well, you've been far more correct, far more often than I have been about this team. So, it's more than possible that this game is closer than I predicted.

If Hazell's program has truly made progress, this should be a 40 point blowout by Purdue. If this is a close game, get ready for another dismal season.

In the event of a close win and then losses to Cinncy and Nevada in some what convincing fashion, does Hazell deserve to be fired mid-season and Malone or another coach elevated to HC? This could easily open the door for early negotiations a future HC.

IMO, if the game is close against EKU and Cinncy and Nevada both come in to Ross Ade and dominate, Hazell should be let go. I just don't see the positives of allowing him to continue on and it allows the new AD to take a stand about how much he is going to focus on getting the right coach at Purdue. It would also send a strong message to the alumni base as firing mid-season is something Morgan Burke would never have done.

I'm not disagreeing with what you suggest, rather I have a question. Last I looked, DH's buyout was $7mil. With lack of revenue in PU's athletic dept, will they pay that buyout? I'm just curious if they would.

After Dec 1, the buyout goes down to $4.4 million I believe. But that doesn't mean that MBob couldn't tell Haze to get lost after week 3, and keep paying him thru the rest of the season, while Malone or freeman coach the team.

Would they be required to pay the $7 mil opposed to the $4.4mil if released week 4. I really don't know how that would work in a legal battle. I'd assume he would have to be the coach up to Jan 1st to lower the buyout. I could be wrong.

The buyout that MB agreed upon on DH's contract might be 1 of his worst moves at PU. Then again, maybe DH takes adv of this year's schedule. If I were a PU fan, that buyout would be frustrating. Good news for PU fans, new ADs typical don't hesitate to pull the trigger in these situations and they snag "their guy". That buyout might delay that process. The months of sept & Oct will tell a lot. Good luck regardless.

You can start searching for a new coach whether or not they fire Hazell. No coach they would hire is going to negotiate in the middle of their season at their current school

The pay is the same regardless of when he is fired. The "buyout" is just the remainder of the contract. His buyout diminishes monthly by the amount he is paid.

As of today, his buyout is $5,166.666.67
As if Oct 1 his buyout is, 4,987,500
and so on.

I'm sure we will wait until after Dec 1 or whatever the date is to officially fire him, but we can change the locks, and box up his stuff and throw it out in the parking lot whenever.

Really doesn't matter tho, either way he's still getting the entire $13 million or whatever his original deal was worth.

You're probably right, but I haven't been this "blah" about an impending college football season in a LONG time. I would love to be able to buy into the hype, but I would feel like Charlie Brown kicking the football. Not excited about the colts either. Hope I'm wrong on both fronts.

Oh I see now. That makes sense.

I completely understand where you are. I bought into the hype last year big time and was absolutely let down. I couldn't even post after the Marshall game. I sat fuming in the stands (except when we beat Nebraska, that was fun) all season. This is the first thread I have replied to since. I hope this year is different.

However, tanking once more wont be completely terrible since we will probably get a new coach with new hype. Personally, I think DH should be let go for anything under 7 wins, assuming we can hit a real home run with an Art Briles hire, or some one similar.

in the mean time, ill be in my seat in the stands hoping for a good season.

Does anyone remember last year? We were told it was going to be different.

The only hope that we have is that there is a 99% chance that this is Hazell's last season. Once they get a new coach, then things will start looking up.

No clue what we will score. As typical of CDH teams we should be pwned in our own house, no matter how much they suck, CDH will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I feel myself sliding into depression. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I have been a hard core hunter all my life and love football and the sweet smell of the air. As I've grown older the hunt has pretty much passed me by and we all know where our football program has crawled to. I concur that the Colts are shaky at best. I see too much improvement in other division teams to feel like they have a legitimate playoff shot this year. On top of all of it just met with an orthopedic surgeon yesterday to schedule a replacement of my right hip on 9/9. They tell me on top of everything else I've got to let my wife do the driving for 5-6 weeks. I wonder if the liquor store delivers???

Hang in there brother!

The concerning part is that as I near the end of my career I'm becoming the guy I always advised against. The guy with no interests since I either no longer can do the things I used to live for or no longer am interested in the ones I could do because they've become unappealing. I guess my upcoming time off is time for a hobby search. I think we'll likely move to the SC coast so at least I can discreetly girl watch until the eyes go!!!

After a win over Miami and losing close ones against Indiana, Kansas State, Louisville, and UK, the Colonels want this one bad. maybe more than the Boilermakers. In a close game:
EKU 31 Purdue 27
In what season did EKU beat Miami, and lose close ones to Indiana,Kansas State.Louisville, and UK?I just wonder how many players are still on The Colonels roster that played in those games.

As for the IU/EKU game, the answer would be none. I had to look it up it was so long ago. It was the 2009 opener. Lynch was still coaching and Chappell was playing qb. Close game, 19-13.

That was the IU team that played Michigan close in Ann Arbor, but lost. That was another Hoosier squad that won only one conference game.Purdue has had five teams that won no league games,or only one since 1990,while Indiana has had twelve teams with no conference victories,or only one since 1995.Thanks for your research..
