Is Nick Holt coming here?

To answer your question, in the words of Oasis, Definitely Maybe.

unlike Purdue, I have to believe WKU will act fast on hiring a new head coach. the question is, will they wait until after Holt coaches their Bowl game? and will Purdue wait as well before looking for someone else to be our defensive coordinator? Holt comes with a lot more experience than just at WKU. on the plus side, we have that no a communications period coming up, and their bowl game is on the 20th, so we could wait without it affecting us too much. it would be nice to have all of our staff selected and in place before the quiet period ends.

Just a wild guess...but after listening to WKU AD presser I would think Holt may be passed over. Last three hires have been creative offensive minds. AD talked about continuing with exciting offense. That probably translates to Holt being backup plan at best. So much turnover in staff last two years....that WKU wouldn't get normal benefit of staff continuity with Holt hire.

I would agree that the WKU AD is probably looking for an offensive minded guy to be head coach. That would leave Holt with two options : stay at WKU as defensive coordinator and maybe assistant head coach title. Or he could follow Brohm to Purdue. He did a great job at WKU, and they would be glad to keep him. And for the same reasons, he would be welcomed by Brohm at Purdue with probably a pay raise.

Yeah, a lot easier to move quickly with the fball season over. Purdue wanted Brohm and hired him two days after his season was over. Not sure how much quicker you'd have liked that to happen.

IMO, they moved fast enough, since Moorhead was a great back up plan, they waited after the championship game and we still got our guy.

When Brohm was announced, I posted here that two of the assistant coaches at USC worked with him a year ago at WKU...and that they both speak highly of Brohm. Holt used to be an assistant at USC as well...pretty much everyone was happy to see him go.

Can you elaborate?

He wasn't that highly thought of as a coach.
You would know more than me, but a lot of what I've read says he was a pretty good DC at USC. USC was even ranked number 1 in the country his last year. After he left the numbers got worse, as they were before he got there as well. Here is one article I found about him when he went from USC to Washington.

Just wondering what you know that we don't?

Wow pu79 thanks for posting that article. that was a good read on Holt. It looks like Holt was a well sought after DC.
I`m with you on this. Can he get the job done? Why is he disliked so?
