Is it too soon for scoreboard watching?

I know, I know. One game at a time.

But is it ok to start scoreboard watching with an eye on what dominoes would need to fall to put Purdue in Indy on 12/4?

I'm going into Saturday assuming we likely pick up a loss and will need everyone else in the West to have at least 3 losses. Teams who own a tie breaker over Purdue (i.e., Wisconsin and Minnesota) will need a 4th loss. That is the equivalent of threading a needle, but it increases my interest in those games, so what the hell.

With that said, who are we rooting for in the Iowa/Minnesota game? If Iowa wins, we need them to lose to either Illinois or Nebraska. If Minnesota wins, we need them to lose to BOTH Indinia and Wisconsin. But then Wisconsin would need to lose to BOTH Northwestern and Nebraska.. So I'll take Iowa winning this week and then rooting for Illinois and Nebraska the next two weeks. And obviously root for Northwestern this week, which will be a futile effort.

Here is one scenario...
Week 11: OSU over Purdue, Wisconsin over Northwestern, Iowa over Minnesota
Week 12: Purdue over NW, Iowa over Illinois, Indinia over Minnesota, Nebraska over Wisconsin
Week 13: Purdue over Indinia, Nebraska over Iowa, Minnesota over Wisconsin

Purdue 6-3 (8-4)
Iowa 6-3 (9-3)
Wisconsin 5-4 (7-5)
Minnesota 5-4 (7-5)

Yeah, it's not happening. Teams with tie breakers over us have to soft a schedule and to many dominos have to fall. While it's possible, it's not probable. So just enjoy what's left of the season and start thinking about what bowl we might be in.

I'll wait until after Saturday to throw in the towel. If we lose to OSU and Minnesota beats Iowa, I think the writing is on the wall. But if Iowa beats Minnesota this week, are the scenarios on Weeks 12 and 13 really that implausible? The biggest reaches are Indinia beating Minnesota and Nebraska beating both Wisconsin and Iowa. But hey, the Huskers have played everyone close, even OSU, so maybe they are due a couple. I'll be pulling for the Hawkeyes on Saturday just in case.

Agree with the others. Without a win Saturday it is near impossible. Wisconsin's schedule is just too easy down the stretch, and the two teams we lose the tiebreaker with play each other.

Purdue has to win Saturday for any of this talk to happen... Wouldn't it be the most Purdue thing ever tho to beat Ohio State only to lose to Northwestern the next week

Interestingly, my book took Purdue off the board to win the NCAA football championship this week. We were on going into last week at +100000 I think. Strange to come off after winning.

We are gonna clown northwestern and their board is gonna melt down. I can’t wait for them to act like Marty is gonna save them. Lol
