how do you lose at home to minnehaha and win on the road at number 2 iowa? amazing win. finally won the turnover battle

DEFENSE bails 'em out again! Mackey!

Now it's over - The Most Hated Rival has been vanquished! All Hail to the mighty Boilermakers of Purdue!
Wha....??!

Offense had 464 yards against a B1G team, whose D is recognized as one of the best in the country.

What a great team effort.

Great job by the D to have four ... FOUR interceptions.

Loved the win, but I don't know if I can take any more of those excessive commercials. I can see why I don't usually watch much football not being able to watch most Purdue games.

What was with our suspect offensive line? Credit to both the offense and defense, but special teams stunk with those two long returns. And too bad that one of our secondary dropped that interception for a pick-6.

It's always great to get those Ws!!!!!!!!!

Special teams (returns), 85......especially in the 4th quarter. That's what I meant.

Offense was great.....and also on third down (9-16).

"Special teams"

That includes kickoff, punts, FGs, kickoff returns, FG returns (you get the picture).

Could've played better on kick offs, and missed a FG.

Criticizing "special teams" when it's one or two specific plays...?

Now... the "offensive line" criticism....

Iowa, ONE sack.

One fumble on a very close TD which was (correctly) ruled a fumble/touchback on an attempted TD.

Holy smokes...
Purdue with 33 rushed for 86 yards

Not a lot there to criticize the "offensive line". they seem to be much improved, especially considering the reputation of the Iowa Defense....

I think Special Teams is the only complaint anyone could possibly have about today. I'd call it more than 1 or 2 specific plays. Iowa had 2 very good returns, one almost for a touchdown at the worst time possible, right after we took the 17-7 lead. The missed FG of course, from short range. Also we continue to get little to nothing from our own returns. It's a struggle just to get a kickoff return to the 20. I also don't understand why we were kicking off so short. Was the wind that tough?

Again, my point should continue to be fairly apparent... "special teams" was not horrible. There were specific parts of "special teams" that can be analyzed/criticized/etc.

Even if you have a complaint about the return game, you weigh the returns against the protection of the ball. Everyone wants to see electric returns. First and foremost, secure the ball and give your offense a shot at moving the ball. That's not something to complain about.

Goodness, folks. We got a great win. Trying to find a way to complain about ... "special teams" ... defines this forum.

Those two plays were big ones putting them in excellent field position.

I wasn't criticizing the offensive line. I complemented them along with the rest of the offense. I was wondering where their good play had come from compared to prior weeks' poor play, hence their being suspect before the game. Their pass protection was excellent. Why the sudden very good play? Will they sustain it? I certainly hope so.

Good follow up. Thanks for the clarification.

This team is clearly receiving very good instruction.

It helped that we had a bye week (2 weeks to prepare).

It also helped we got Iowa coming off an emotional win.

It also helped that we don't have Les Miles coaching the team. (LOL! Okay, sorry/not sorry for that gratuitous shot at my fellow Boiler brethren!).

Just because we got a great win doesn't mean there can't be improvement. I guess there are different ways to look at it, but special teams didn't do anything special today.

But it was a great win. Quibbles aren't the same as bitching.

There is ALWAYS room for improvement!

Not buts... it WAS a great win!

Kudos to Brohm and the staff for getting them prepared, and to the team for executing!

Not likely. Their entire argument got nuked with one game. Still issues to fix of course, but this looks like one masterful job of coaching.
One game doesnt make or break an argument. He has a lot more to accomplish.

The only lack of class I've seen was from PSU fans when they came here to harass the Iowa fans while we were discussing the upcoming game last week...
I really hate to hear that, but Iowa was harassing the heck out of our board all week. It didn't help when Ferentz doubled down on the fake injuries nonsense. As if they were an uptempo team. We lost five starters. I love Purdue though. My grandpa was a proud grad. I will always consider Indiana home.
