In the past, hasn't the AD come out with the "vote of confidence" during a bye week?

Believe they are busy assembling their next survey on the south end zone project....

Everyone over there is eerily quiet, or so it seems.

Honestly, the pressure from the media hasn't really been that much. Yes, this message board is full of it but you haven't seen much outside of that.

Unfortunately, Purdue related media is minimal. The story about Randy Edsall being fired was first reported by a GBI/Hammer & Rails type of site. GBI will not report on that for obvious reasons. Hammer & Rails does not have the connections.

The main/national media (i.e. a Pat Forde) will not come calling until there's smoke.

I'm in no way bashing the individuals who run the site because obviously this is their livelihood and they don't want to rock the boat too much (because its easy for Purdue to pull their credentials), but how much pressure can really come from GBI? They are attached to the local media in WLFI as well, so I'm not sure what media is going to apply pressure to the University concerning this issue. GBI, it seems to me, has to maintain an even keel (hence the some what neutral analysis over the last 4 weeks. I wish they would really ask some harder and pressing questions of the staff when given the chance but I totally understand why the can't and won't.

I don't think Carmin is going to really go hard against Hazell because his bread and butter of Purdue Basketball looks like it is making a comeback. Add that to the fact that jobs for the guys like this are drying up every day, its not surprising to see minimal pressure from the media, even on something as obvious as the Hazell situation at Purdue.

Looks like they've put that on the back burner for the $60M Mollenkopf expansion thingy.

Honest question - Am I supposed to seriously believe (as has been suggested), our athletic department will retain Hazell due to his $6M+ buyout being too steep, all the while, the same athletic department can drop $60M+ on a new building? I'm not saying the new building is unneccessary (well, it is unneccessary, but not if we're going to actually try and win in this "arms race" that is college football), but that is not an insignificant sum. Surely, if we lose out, Hazell is gone, right? If not, would all this imply it is because Burke has actual faith in his ability to turn this around?

I didn't realize it was for an all new Mollenkauf facility only. I still think it is one of the better indoor facility in the country and was just returfed a few years ago. If it is just for Mollenkauf, that is going to be one hell of a facility.

Maybe we're not giving Burke and Daniels enough credit here... Step 1: Secure $60M from BOT for new facility, Step 2: Figure out how to build the facility for $54M, Step 3: Re-allocate $6M to another "priority" within the department... Nah!

It's a catch 22. If we spend that money, but still suck at football....nobody will want to come play here no matter what the facilities look like.

That said, the football offices are dark, dingy and not modern. They need a lift for sure. Getting study, weight room and casual player facilities up to par would go a long way!

You don't need $60M bux for better lighting.
