Lots of reason why good shooters come to Purdue and take time to develop into good shooters again at the college level.
This happens at all schools:
1) Kids are put on a workout regimen to strengthen their cores and build muscle to handle the season...which in the Big ten is physical.
Because of this extra muscle, it takes time to adjust the strength of the shot with the new found muscles.
2) Purdue actually round out it's players by actually having them play defense...which leads to tired legs and arms until they get the core strength to play the minutes without drop off....we all know tired legs and arms make it tough to shoot...try running a mile and then stop and make 10 free throws....easier when you are not winded.
3) Young shooters on team besides KS.....takes time to get caught up with the game speed at college level.......
4) Knowing when to take the shot and when not too.....which is the key to the Purdue system...good shots and bad shots can determine the outcome of the game for Purdue. Second half of the Iowa game, the kids struggled knowing when to take shot and when not too...it led to turnovers or lost opportunity.
All of this stuff above is a simple progression that will be cured in time.
Davis is a senior and can lead the defense and AJH is a senior and can lead the Offense, but the others just have to get thru the 4 things above and will do well.
