Perhaps the better showing against Illinois is that just coming from there and being part of it, Walters knew their defense.

This is the best case scenario from a purely speculative look at the schedule. I’m going with reality is 3-4 wins, but that we also add a big upset

It’s crazy, crazy I tell ya for Purdue fans to consider the UI game a toss up; it’s not as if:

1) The worst Purdue team in decades went up and down the field on UI all game long— on your home turf to boot;

2) Purdue has been anything but dominant recently, but has been more than good enough to own UI in football for the better part of a decade…

With the new large O linemen perhaps the need for a top QB won't be so great, and now perhaps we'll be able to score TDs on those short yardage plays or pickup third and short by running. Keep those type of players coming in at all positions and I'm beginning to see hope for our football future. Hopefully all the pieces will be present for a competent team this fall that is fun and interesting to watch.

Look I grew up an Illinois fan in the 80s, but that was also the last time they were any good at sports. Purdue has had their number in football during up and historically bad seasons

Since we are still lacking talent, it will be a rebuilding year. However, if Odom can field a team that is competitive, this year will be a steppingstone for future years.

After 2 years of Walters incompetence, where he lost the locker-room and was over his heard for the job, Odom has a reputation of getting the most out of his players, so that is reason for optimism.

Facts … Purdue 48 wins, Illinois 46 wins. Last 10 games … Purdue 7 wins, Illinois 3 wins and this includes the two worst coaches in the history of Purdue (and likely the conference). So this guys right, it’s not a toss up this is a W this season
