If the Tournament were held today, Purdue is still a #2 seed

I had the Boilerepherine Trifecta:

88' Silverdome
'90 Hoosier Dome
'95 UT Irwin Center

Unfortunately, I did not play the parlay and "retired" as a spectator except for the '10 Reliant Center. :)
I played the daily double of ‘90 Hoosier Dome and ‘19 yum center.

It's Boilermaker fellowship all around.

I was at the ‘90, ‘95, and ‘10 games. They somehow found a cure for Cubsepherine in ‘16 beating the Guardians.

That '90 tournament team was superb at getting into position and taking charges. There were about a half-dozen charges by Texas that were not called.

As I recall Keady got fined after the game for commenting on how his players knew the rules much better than the officials for that game.

Think it was in the neighborhood of $10,000. I don't think Purdue paid it for him either.

Someday will be the day.....just hope I'm still around to see it. :)

Much more significant fine, in relation to salary (would guess Gene was making a few hundred k at the time), than a coach physically assaulting another coach at a game.

Wade boggs once said his success was not due to his keen knowledge of the strike zone or his eyesight. his success was due to knowing what the umpires would call .

rather than knowing the rules, and playing by the rules and yelling at the refs for no calls, the smarter and more successful teams know and realize what the refs will call and play accordingly.

rather than watching films of opposing players, teams should start watching films of refs to see what they will call and make your game plan accordingly. Unlike players, refs rarely change the way they call a game. and refs in different leagues call things differently. if yo u want to succeed in a tournament , rather than complain, KNOW THY REF !

Times have changed. Assault

Yes truth in what your are saying, but in that game with Texas what could Keady have changed? Stop playing defense and getting in position, which resulted in no-calls?

We could have tried to drive to the basket no matter who was in the way, but that wasn't our offense.

At the moment, the 1s and 2s seem to have a little bit of separation. Illinois, UCLA and Villanova losing this week have helped that. So for now, it looks like 9 teams from 8 spots on the 1/2 lines:

Gonzaga
Arizona
Auburn
Kansas
Kentucky
Purdue
Duke
Baylor
Texas Tech

The Big 12 should play itself out as Baylor and Kansas play again still. So I would expect only 2 of the 3 on these lines. If we lose to Wisconsin, it changes a whole lot as the Badgers would be in line to win the B1G outright, or at worst the #1 seed in the B1G. That could make them jump us. There's no way to quantify just how big that game in on Tuesday.

The only other team I think could sneak up there is Providence if they beat Villanova, but considering their poor metrics and their propensity to sneak out of so many games lately makes their ceiling probably a 3.

The press conference after that game was as upset as I ever saw Keady. He really felt bad for the players.

My favorite team for the rest of the regular season (excluding our Boilers of course) is Texas. Has a home game against Baylor and a road finale at Kansas. Win both and that helps us out, a lot.
