ICYMI, Kayana Traylor was drafted by the Chicago Sky last evening

She, of course, played for our Boilers her first three collegiate years-starting in almost every game. She did well entering the portal and landing at Virginia Tech who lost in the NCAA Tournament semi-finals to eventual champion LSU.. She was drafted #23 (the 11th of pick of the 2nd round).

I really don’t follow the WNBA that much but from what I read it is a toss-up whether she can stick with the team. Always liked her and I wish her the very best.

Extremely unlikely. Last year only like 5 of the players drafted in the first round were able to stay with their respective teams. With the extremely limited amount of wnba roster spots currently available and the massive player pool - it’s very rare, outside of the top players, for a draft pick to catch on with the team. It will only continue to get worse until the league expands. I don’t even know why there’s a 3rd round.
