I will say this about Chris Collins...

Their game plan of making their 3’s and fouling every time when Purdue has the ball in the paint almost worked again. He knows the reason for the fouls discrepancy. He’s just doing a service for the rest of the league, against Purdue, for the rest of the season.

Chris probably has a very jaded view of officials because his Dad was royally screwed in the 72 Olympics in the gold medal game against the Russians. One of the worst screw jobs by officials in the history of all sports. I believe the team still hasn’t picked up their silver medals in protest. By association, he probably thinks the refs are out to get him all the time.

To clarify, I was only referring to the handshake as classy. The "foul Purdue then whine about ii" approach was a bit jackassery.

Rumor has it that Collins realized his team was going to lose but would be damned if someone from NWU was going to storm the court so he took ut upon himself to start. Apparently, others were to follow, but were too comfortable sitting on the bench for fouling out.

I thought he was initiating the vaunted Chrissy Collins 2-2-2 full court press.

To me, the handshake was all part of the show. Matt Painter had far more reason to be angry after last year’s game in Evanston. There is not much more unfair than trying even out foul calls when one team is doing all of the fouling.

Bob Knight has a few gems of quotes and it was a piece of genius for CMP to use that quote.

Was it something like,

"if you don't want your opponent to shoot 40 FTs stop fouling."

Lol

Even though based on our FT shooting last night I would say that might have been the better defense.

Quit teaching your post players the “bearhug defense.”

If you don’t want all those fouls called stop making it part of your game plan against Zach. Might work in jersey/rutgers but not here.

Hell, I'm a bit cynical of the refs and Purdue won. I was a bit worried about seeing Courtney and knowing NW was about to enter the hack a zach zone.

Nothing classy about shaking hands after making the Purdue team look like they won due to receiving foul calls they didn't deserve. Seems more like a slap in the face to me. I know they couldn't, but I would have preferred Painter and Edey to leave him hanging.

I doubt Painter would ever do that as you said, but I did notice some of our players look at him like he was a spoiled, entitled psycho, which I found appropriate. On to Wisconsin.

It is hard to complain about the foul discrepancy when you foul us every time in the paint. I actually thought a lot of calls down low near the end that went against us were terrible calls. Thought Collins should have been happy.

2 fouls called against Gillis guarding Barnheiser were very bad calls. Gillis was defending the way you are supposed to and the ref was punishing him.

Both those calls you reference were due to the refs calling what they THOUGHT they saw vs. what they ACTUALLY saw. Really bad look.

On the other hand his dook teams that he played on and coached received approximately 8,752 favorable calls so imma need him to get over that thing that happened before he was born.
