Reason being their the only ones on the team that can get their own shots

Braden is the only one that can actually be a playmaker. There is no other player that can lead the team or control a game on Purdue's roster. Zach without the absurd no call fouls is very efficient and dominating. Those are two very different things that other players cannot do.

Newman looked good last night, might be time to see more of him and Gillis going forward. Purdue can’t have 2 starters not scoring, puts too much pressure on the Frosh and Zach.

Actually they have 3 starters that can't score. Furst, Loyer and Morton.

good post but usually at this time of the year , the coach goes w/ his best 8 and not alot of lineup changes. Those are usually done and early in the season and a coach gets to see what works

Maybe coach should quit shortening the bench. Early in the season our depth was a strength and we weren't fading at the end of games. I believe there is a definition of insanity that applies.

I think you're on to something there. Usually roles have defined at this point and the shortened bench is to keep your most important players on the floor. Well, that' just isn't happening and nobody seems to have staked out a significant role other than Edey, Smith and Morton on defense. Everything else is WAY up and down and needs to be re-evaluated in terms of minutes IMO. Rather than shortening the bench, I'd be shortening the LEASH on the players on the floor.
This team needs guys to STEP UP. Right now!

I know there is a draft Newman movement (for three years)but he has never shown an ability to consistently play well. Last year in the tourney he had a big game early, next game 0 for 6. And yes I know he does not get great minutes but his body of work says no consistent there there. However, he is capable of a good game here or there and Painter will ride it if it comes. Meanwhile they need more from Loyer, to succeed. That's why they had the early big wins, Edey and both starting guards playing well, and complementary play from everyone else.
