hopefully they will use this as motivation & we'll get the win at MSU:

"It's tough (to move on)," Hammons said. "I'm pissed right now. We
should have won this. It was dumb plays at the end by me and fouls. I'll
take this loss on me."

Mathias stewed after the game about his missed foul shots, calling them "unacceptable."

and this quote

Matt Painter: Two of Jon Octeus' fouls against Ohio State 'weren't even close to being fouls.'

ownership is a huge difference between this year and

the previous two...!!!

Can't blame this loss on the officials, but teams should prepare for ~6 point advantage to O$U in the meth house. Matta got the message across in the 2nd half. Still PU's fault on a lost opportunity.

The Boilers need to take better care of the ball. There's no such thing as a "good turnover", but they had 6 "really bad" ones that immediately resulted in 4 layups/dunks and 4 FTs.

On the positive side, they played the last 10 minutes of the first half (score went from -3 to +12) and the last 8 minutes of the second half without a TO. They are capable of playing disciplined basketball, and I expect CMP will have them playing that way for 40 minutes in the remaining regular season games and into the NCAAs.

Re: and this quote

Not blaming the refs, but the foul on Octeus that should have been a charge was absurd. The ref under the basket literally started motioning charge, then stopped and changed his mind. I bet if it wasn't Russell, it would have been a charge.

That's when my wife left the room, after I responded with "He's a funky freshman and you give him that call" one of the words in that quote may have been different.

Yeah, that charge was one of the worst calls ive seen in some time. I watched it back and forth on DVR over and over until my wife said that it wont change no matter how much I watch it. I just kept saying, that is the exact way you set your feet while outside of the restricted area...there is NOTHING he could have done better. He was actually parked there far longer than most players when they draw the charge.

Last year, Basil took a charge at Mackey vs. OSU that Jim Burr definitively called a block. If you remember the play, Basil was camped out forever just waiting for contact.

In regards to Russell, the guy looks to get bailed out more than subprime lenders in 2008. His flailing act is worse than Marcus Smart. Every ball screen, every down screen he receives, every time he faces pressure on the ball. every time he penetrates, he does that fake foul garbage. The amazing thing is he is skilled enough to fake a foul and still be an unreal scoring threat.
