I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PLAYERS!

I feel sorry for the players because they know they are facing a hopeless situation every game! The play calling gives Purdue no chance of winning, so what incentive do the players have? It is also obvious that the school Administration has no interest in having a winning football program, for if they did Hazell would have been fired already! If firing Hazell is too expensive, they should at least demote him! There certainly must be someone on the staff who knows something about football that could be the interim head coach! Meanwhile Purdue will continue the Big 10 cellar dweller!

A lot of us share your frustrations.

I guess all we can do is wait and hope.

I really miss enjoying Purdue football.

This sounds a lot more harsh than intended, but:

1. A strong majority of these players came to play for the coaching staff. We haven't had assistant turnover really, so they picked to come play for their coach.

2. About half of our players should feel lucky to be playing in the Big Ten.

3. Demote Hazell? Sorry, but you're spouting off things that make no sense yourself.

Which gets me to what's wrong with sports in general. Paying a coach like Hazell 2.2M per year when he was an unproven guy. He is holding our program hostage while raking in more money than he should be getting. He doesn't care about winning. Contracts need to be incentive and performance based. You get a base salary of X. You win, you get more. You lose and you're gone with no strings attached.

While I do believe that a change needs to be made with regard to the coaching staff, I don't feel too bad for the players. There are plays to be made all over the field. The coaches aren't dropping passes or missing tackles. They aren't committing stupid personal fouls that keep us on the field after a would-be third down stop. There is a coaching component to a lot of our poor play, but the players need to shoulder much of the responsibility as well.

I feel bad for the players, I think the coaches play the wrong players more than who should be playing, I see no enthusiasm, I see constant excuses, the players seem to realize they can't win now, gotta be total misery going to practice and games now.

Agree x1000. Why DJ Knox gets ANY carries is beyond me. Hard to imagine Keyante Green isn't better between the tackles. And while Markell Jones has turned it over far more than i'd like, that kid needs 30 touches a game. He's a legit home run threat when nobody else on the offense is.

Why doesn't Bilal Marshall play at WR more? He's got great hands and led the team in most scrimmages in recieving and i'm pretty sure he led the team in the Spring Game too. Not that it means a ton, but when a guy is consistently a top performer in practice, why doesn't he play more?

Why is Martresse Patterson getting most of the snaps at RT? He hasn't been better than Cermin.

Why is Leroy Clark still at safety? He was decent at CB, and he's not a lot of help in the run game. He could probably get MORE interceptions in coverage, not as a safety.
