I am up to here with fans that say stupid stuff like "refs didn't affect the outcome" or "refs aren't why we lost".

No clue what a cylinder foul is. Day before in the Houston Iowa state game, Iowa state was defending Houston (cryer). Iowa state defended was in a great defensive position. Cryer swung his elbow up and across and nailed the Iowa state player in the face. Foul called on cryer initially, then they reviewed and reversed the call and said it was a cylinder foul. Bilas, which I agreed with, said “if that’s a cylinder foul, then you’re always going to be in the cylinder on defense”. Then we see Trey called for it, but was the complete opposite of the day prior.

I’m not saying that Leal ejected would have changed the game. But we have seen Leach for NW get kicked out for less incidental than Leal, saw McGee kicked out for outstretched hand into TKR, and toppin for Texas tech get kicked out for even less than that. Not denying Furst pulled him down and could have been a hook and hold, but how Leal isn’t assessed an F2 based on just the three examples is wild to me. They at least both should have received technicals. But by not doing that, the refs set the tone. And then Leal got away with murder all game.
it looked to me that leal undercut Caleb and Caleb naturally braced his fall. Foul on Leal. OR did Caleb jump over leal and if so foul on Caleb. Instead High Knees was too tired from stepping up and down the court that he just looked at them and when Caleb grimaced...then High Knees found the whistle and held up the game for a small break in play. I thought as did many and suppose many still do think that three refs with smaller areas to watch would be better than two refs. I'm unsure that is the case as "is". Perhaps 3 is the better approach, but then something needs to improve the variation in calls we see "if possible".

Lol “toughness” and “leadership” cmon man. Kid is a try hard. An older version of cupps.
8 points on 3/4 fg, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks. And ZERO turnovers in 35 minutes. And spent about half his time guarding Smith. If Cupps can ever be that good it would be a real find for Indiana.

Leal is also the consistent voice on defense, in team huddles, and during timeouts.

He consistently contributes to winning.

Next you’ll tell me Galloway is a good 3pt shooter

He’s also tired from flying all over the country and reffing 4-5 nights a week! He was already not that good and it’s even worse this year.

The fact no call was even made was ridiculous—especially how this year has been called with those type of plays.

And don’t even get me started on the moving screens. They called 5-6 illegal screens in the game. If I were a player getting screened, I would flop/flail every time to try and get the refs to call an offensive foul.

He has had two surgeries in high school. Pretty sure you’re wrong and he was not expected to play much/was expected to RS. Don’t think we thought we’d lean on him as painter seemed to think berg was ready for the next step.

DJ didn’t “reclassify”. He decided not to go another year of prep school. He is In the correct class.
Agree on RB. He’s just not physically ready to play big minutes in a grown man’s league. Should be a good player, needs a big offseason. DJ also needs a big offseason physically.

After reading all of this I am really worried for Furst’s health.

He should get a medal for the courage to continue on after such a devastating injury. Moreover, he should get a second metal for jumping up and screaming at the ref after suffering such a devastating injury!

The guy is a hero of testicular survivorship, and testicular fortitude.

You had me until that last statement.

Well, Indiana hasn’t done all that much winning over the past couple years.

Once Woodson stopped relying on high talent players that he coaches badly, and gave far more minutes to guys like Leal and Goode, the results improved dramatically. Leal getting 35 minutes isn’t necessarily a good thing, but it’s way better than a bunch of high priced players with their heads up their ass.

You guys want some reality on the Leal/Furst incident?

If Furst hadn’t hooked and pulled Leal down before Leal tried to kick him, Leal would’ve almost certainly been hit with a flagrant.

And if Leal had been hooked and pulled down by Furst like that and hadn’t tried to kick him? Furst almost certainly would’ve been hit with a flagrant.

But it was the first few minutes of a high intensity game and the refs decided to de-escalate the situation and give them both a pass. So it was a play on, there were no more incidents, and it was in retrospect probably a pretty good call.

I always wondered why when a pick is set that the ballhander dribbles wide of the pick instead of rubbing right off the screen. Wouldn’t that illuminate players from sticking out a hip or moving into the defensive player to cause an illegal screen?

Purdue fans would appreciate Leal as a role player if he played for us. He is the kind of kid you hate when you’re playing against him, but typically embrace on your team.

Come Friday - first crap call that doesn’t go our way, Painter needs to be in the refs face. Go full Hurley and just berate them into the call. Have the entire stadium booing the refs. Works for everyone else - time to use it to our advantage. Who cares if you get a T. You’ve let stuff slide for far too long and playing nice guy isn’t working. Or getting a T when the game is already over isn’t effective. Show the team you have their back.

Second, someone needs to grow a sack and standup when our guys get knocked down. If it is a foul - 4 dudes should be sprinting to pick him up and clear some room. If the opposing team is in the way - move them out. Shouldn’t have been standing there to begin with.

Stop crying and complaining. Show some toughness.
👍 x 1 million. Quit being nice to the refs and opponents and start kicking some a$$.

Sorry to disagree, but if our players want to play dirty against our opponents team’s players, I don’t want them playing for us. It is obvious beyond doubt on the replay that the kick was intentional and was intentionally placed.

IMHO, Purdue should have a Brad Miller/Brian Cardinal type player on every team. A big that is equipped to mix it up. Those two were tough and not blatantly dirty. Approaching that line will inspire the team and will send a message.

Hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. In this case, he found two.

Congrats to Leal, I guess, for almost reaching double figures for the third time in his long and illustrious 5 year career.

At times Burgess gives me the impression that he could be that in a yr or 2.

Isn't this the second game in a row now where an obvious foul occurred right in front of the ref with no call? I mean, WTF are these zebras looking at?

Well then they get to go to the monitor and review for like 15 minutes then have another ref look and then discuss another 5mins and then provide an answer.

“Dose of reality”. Man Katscratch, you had me for awhile thinking you didn’t always wear crimson colored glasses, but your last few posts are proving that wrong.

De-escalating there is not going with a “no call”. It set the tone for how the game was going to be called. Both should have been given at least a tech, but Leal should have been kicked out —based on what we have seen this past month of groin incidents.

I love disagreement. Leal wouldn't pull that shit if playing for Painter.
