I am feeling great now......

While the game wasn't close, we scored 35 points so the visual isn't as bad as say the Maryland game.

No chance he gets fired this week.

Maybe a D shake up would be in order though.

How about the visual of 15K in the stands in the 2nd half?

Didn't we just shake up both the D and the O?

Unless the OP has some inside info, I doubt another loss is going to be enough to trigger a firing in the next 48 hours.

I hope you are right, but in reality Hazell will be there thru this year and probably next!
In that case be ready for 10k in the stands.
And look at the 2017 schedule - 0-12 with this crew at the helm would be a real possibility

I'm not too sure we're needing a bad visual. This isn't the LSU situation. I think most reasonable people know how Purdue Football has performed that they probably wouldn't be shocked...

the morgue has told him for years that he has his back.
the new MB is writing him up after each horrid showing.
can't fire the guy when he's been told for years that it's ok

i don't know any of this as a fact but wouldn't want my firing to be a surprise to me either when i thought i had more time to improve

edit: or even that i was doing an unacceptable job

Don't think you fire him when he's sitting at .500. If you were going to fire him at 3-3 you shouldn't have even let him start the season in the first place.

Better question is who does MB2 want as his Head Coach and how fast after IU handles us again can you sign him so we don't waste another recruiting class! If MB2 is waiting to see how this season turns out to hire a firm to search out candidates he is wasting time and we will have another substandard class of recruits! Plus he must be blind or nuts if he thinks this season will turn around!

I disagree because of the nature of the 3 losses. Purdue has played 3 decent/average teams... and been blown out in all 3 of those games. Not even competitive.

Anyone who has actually watched this season, not just looking at the record, can clearly see that this program is nowhere near being even competitive against average B1G teams.

Hell Purdue is not competitive in the MAC yet alone the B1G! 3 1/2 years going on four of crap football, crap coaching and crap recruiting...what else does anyone including the kool aid drinking diehards have to see and endure with DH2?

And that differs from the past three seasons how?

Not certain IU "handles" us. We can definitely win this year. Offense is as good as it has been. They aren't that good. Every game on our schedule is still very winnable minus maybe Wisoconsin.

Like it or not, Hazell has every chance to win 6 and save his job.

People act like we are 0-6 on this board. Sad.

Please. I was calling out these problems three years ago when most everyone here was all, "Hope left us in a hole....he's gonna need 2-3 seasons to fix this mess...blah blah blah"

My stance is pretty much the same as it is during every season. Since I think it is absolutely pointless to fire most coaches during the season (barring scandals or other such events) that doesn't mean I'm happy with things as they are. When the season is over or when the record makes it impossible for the coach to reach minimum expectations for the season that's when I start drawing final conclusions. If things continue to go down the road they are on I'm sure nearly everyone will draw the same conclusion but you will have to forgive me for not throwing an online tantrum after each step of the journey.

If we are truly after miles,
Why would we want to delay his start? Would seem intentionally detrimental to recruiting (and the chance of landing him in the first place )

I actually agree if Les is our target, you could conceivably move now. But I hope that's not the case. I have no interest in his offensive scheme coming to WL.

I disagree. IU will likely beat the hell out of us this year. They play harder and smarter than us, and their coach isn't playing to get the lead and sit on it. My guess is they run it up early and never look back.

How exactly do they play smarter than us? Be specific. I agree they will be favored easily to beat us. But I fail to think they will destroy us.

If we weren't playing hard, we would've given up today. If we weren't playing smart, we'd be a much higher penalized team.

Because it year 4 of his tenure.

You honestly don't see the difference in a coach putting up these kinds of results in his 4th year with the program as compared to when he first took over as being a valid concern in whether he's making any progress at all?

Then they shouldn't have let him start the year if you're going to give him such little rope. I mean, how many here expected better than 3-3 right now? And now that we sit there we think we should fire him now? If that is the case then we are the fools for letting him start the year to begin with.

You keep stating "3-3" like we haven't been watching the season up to this point. If Purdue was 3-3 and was competitive in all those losses then I could see your argument of waiting it out but losing to Maryland 21-17 isn't the same as losing 50-7. One shows progress and the other shows no progress at all.

It's looking at a season based on how the team is played not simply looking at the record. Hazell is in his 4th season and after a 3-3 start has shown no evidence of improving the program in any significant way from the first day he arrived, you could make a fairly strong argument that he's made it worse.

Do you think this is his best year? Do you think he should still be fired? If so, if we fire him tomorrow, what should we do? How will it be markedly better than today? Why would it be better than hiring a coach in late November?

1. No.
2. Yes.
3. Promote an assistant to HC, most likely Malone.
4. He may actually come up with football strategies instead of ra ra cliches.
5. The new AD may inspire a swell of JPC donations by showing it's no longer business as usual in the Purdue Athletic Department instead of pissing off donors even more and drying up donations by allowing him to continue.

If a bunch of people join JPC because we fire a coach then this fan base is dumber than I thought and my opinion currently isn't very high as it is.

1. What year was better? I must've missed it.
2. And it gains what?
3. I could agree on Freeman. Malone would be my second choice.
4. Every coach lives in cliches. "Row the boat!" And he's my first choice.
5. My point is there will be better coaches in November than today. We can fire him tomorrow but that won't change anything.

I love the fact that the same people who were predicting no more than 2 wins this year in August are now adamant that 3-3 isn't good enough. This will all take care of itself in the next 6 weeks. Stop watching if you can't handle that.
