I guess it starts with actually winning something once in a while.
2 NBA draft picks to win 12 games when your arch rival is winning the league with 15 and then getting waxed by a lower seed in the 2nd round sure as hell isn't going to get it done.
Fire his ass I'd say.

IU's standards have definitely lowered after their string of coaching hires since knight...now they're happy just to make the tourney and beat their rival once in awhile....they'll probably give Woodson a lifetime contract even though he's on pace to miss the tourney the next few years unless they can pick up some big time recruits next year...they've already taken a hit with their nba coach not developing tjd enough to get a 1st round or early second round pick....Woodson will get further exposed the next couple of years with how poorly he puts together a team....

Talk about complete lack of self awareness. Are you really suggesting Woodson gets fired for losing to a lower seed? We have absolutely zero room to talk. Have you just completely forgotten about painter losing to double digit seeds THREE YEARS IN A ROW?? Should we fire him too? Just delete this stupid post before all the iu fans come to make fun of you.

Thank you for being a typically dense iu fan.
Perhaps you missed the irony that IS iu fans ignoring how good this team was to fixate on the problems of the team in the thread I am responding to. ;)
pissing off iu fans like you is the entire purpose of this post.
Try a clue next time.

On expectations, things will change for Woodson if time passes and he can't get out of the second round of the tournament. Fort now, however, that his team lost a 4/5 game to a Miami team that went to the final 4 isn't exactly a disaster. And yes, sweeping your rival doesn't hurt either.

As for Woodson taking "a hit" with TJD's development, the facts simply don't support that. First, TJD has a 3 year guaranteed NBA contract which isn't exactly something recruits will see as a failure. Second, TJD's development under Woodson is undeniable. He was no nowhere near a first team AA before Woodson arrived. And third, Hood-Schifino's successful run in Bloomington is part of the story as well. IU has had multiple top 30 lead guard recruits (Jaeden Mustafa, Boogie Fland, Dylan Harper) reference Hood-Schifino in discussing what they like about IU. Harper's probably going to Duke but the other two are very much in play for IU. All three have taken official visits to IU.

Woodson is a stop gap and has done a pretty decent job of playing that role. Getting TJD to stay last year was huge and agree that TJD's development the last two years has been pretty impressive. In most years he would have been the BTPOY last year.

It's telling as to where they two programs have been the last five plus years that in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Purdue and a breakout year for IU, IU's biggest accomplishment was beating Purdue twice and finishing three games behind them in the BT standings. If Woodson can get IU to the NCAAT this year he should be in pretty good shape for the next few years and can then retire and IU probably has a pretty good shot of landing what they'll hope will be their longer term solution. No top tier coach was going to come to IU after Crean, lil' Archie, etc. but if Woodson can deliver two or three more solid years that may change.
