I'm guessing Painter told him he would like to develop him to be like Robbie Hummel. IU can show him the path of Galloway and say, "This could be you!"And commits to Purdue?
Haha true, but we will have open spots next year… 🤷♂️He knew what Purdue and iu were when he committed. Iu has been garbage for a while, and Purdue has been a top team for a while. He made his bed, now he can lie in it.
Indiana will have a new coach. And Sisley probably knows that.Haha true, but we will have open spots next year… 🤷♂️
So he will be a part of a rebuild for a few years and he’s good with that, yeah?Indiana will have a new coach. And Sisley probably knows that.
Depends what coach is brought in. Kelsey has done pretty well in year 1 with a 100% new team. May is doing well in year 1. Pope is absolutely killing it with a 100% new team. Beard took two years but it's also Ole Miss. It all just depends on the next guy. I don't consider Sisley to be a guy that'll be an impact player year 1 to begin with.So he will be a part of a rebuild for a few years and he’s good with that, yeah?
I was at the game and there was nothing better to hear than the Fire Woodson chants from the student section. Cheerleaders tried to drown them out but it didn't work.
That has been the promise with every single coaching change.Depends what coach is brought in. Kelsey has done pretty well in year 1 with a 100% new team. May is doing well in year 1. Sure. New coaches can bring success in basketball a lot easier than in football. IU is doing something wrong in their basketball coaching search though because it's been awhile since they've gotten a good one.Depends what coach is brought in. The names and faces have changed, but the story remains the same.Indiana will have a new coach. And Sisley probably knows that.
Well Glass went behind everyone's back and hired Archie. Buckner wanted Woodson then. Then if course Archie is fired and it hire Woodson. Then it's Woody gets 4 years because Archie did. Unfortunately, morons have ran the program into the ground. Crean was okay. Probably could have succeeded at IU with NIL. Sampson was problematic at the time... On things that are of course legal now. Sampson would have absolutely killed it at IU. Who runs the show is incredibly important. But they've really screwed the pooch the last two times.Sure. He's an arrogant, egotistical a-hole. Dude believes he's above all. Great player, absolutely awful and worthless coach. The names and faces have changed, but the story remains the same.
IU has no choice. They have to replace Woody. I always felt he was a class act who represented the university well. It's a shame that his legacy will be that the finacial and other support he received was the envy of any other program, but he failed so badly the fans were literally screaming for him to be fired.
From hero to zero.
Poor Cellvin was just ahead of his time!Well Glass went behind everyone's back and hired Archie. Buckner wanted Woodson then. Then if course Archie is fired and it hire Woodson. Kids don't know him as a legendary player. They just know him as a coach.I get the frustration and being over the Woodson experiment, but damn I couldn’t imagine my own student section chanting for a coach that was also a legendary player to be fired.
Even with the bad play, watching IU would be sooooooo much better without the cheerleader's lame cheers droning on through the game. There is not another team that makes you feel you are in the middle of a high school cheerblock and even then they have more meaningful cheers than what goes on in the IU home games. I just don't hear that in other gyms. So if there is consideration in removing Woodson, follow that up with the head of the cheerleaders as well to improve the game...particularly if the team is playing poorly.I was at the game and there was nothing better to hear than the Fire Woodson chants from the student section. I agree that Sampson is a very good coach and might have been exceptional at Indiana. The cell phone stuff looks like small potatoes now--though it's still hard to believe he got caught twice at two different schools. But, you're right, things might look very different now had he stayed and ssucceeded.Well Glass went behind everyone's back and hired Archie. Buckner wanted Woodson then. All Indiana had to do was give the NCAA a middle finger like UNC and Kansas did. Instead, the school was full and willing to throw themselves into the abyss. And Dakich has said it before, the administration was fully set of pushing down the basketball program.I agree that Sampson is a very good coach and might have been exceptional at Indiana. Crean did alright given what he had to start with. I think he would have kept Indiana competitive--maybe not a return to the Bob Knight heyday, but at least competitive.
Depends on his knees. Is he a Colin Hartman type or Robbie Hummel??
Odds on the former as Hummel was so so special.

We did have a pimp. I'm assuming DeAndre Thomas. Can't convince me otherwise. And a drug dealer. Not sure which that one was. Would have had another but he was busted while in high school and that ruined his career. Bud Mackey. Busted dealing cocaine in Kentucky. It wasn’t just the cell phone stuff that got Sampson fired.
My daughter and son-in-law were Boiler cheerleaders. They were there with G-Rob ... they have often talked about how to build optimism, confidence. How important it is to the team. I think Sisley sticks with IU, he knew what he was getting into, but a recruit would have to be an idiot to bet on IU getting this turned around quickly given their track record.Depends what coach is brought in. I’d imagine that Painter would take him if he wanted to come. My first reaction is you’re right and Sisley and his family chose IU knowing that there could easily be a coaching change and were ok with IU regardless of coach. I wonder if they actually went in with the view of committing to IU (which was the path of least resistance), knowing that if there was a coaching change they could always reevaluate and ask for a release or hit the portal if needed. He knew what Purdue and iu were when he committed. Iu has been garbage for a while, and Purdue has been a top team for a while. He made his bed, now he can lie in it.

Since we are all guessing, I think he would take Flory in a second, but unsure of Sisley. Not sure Sisley is better than some we have seen and Matt has to be careful not to send a message that Purdue is a backup plan if things don't work out. With Flory and his limited basketball days as well as time in the country and being a great fit for Purdue he might treat that different.I’d imagine that Painter would take him if he wanted to come. Just for clarity...my oldest sister was a cheerleader for 4 years in high school and 3 years at Butler (graduated in 3 six decades ago) and her two granddaughters were both cheerleaders at Butler. Another sister was a cheerleader for 4 years in high school only, with her daughter being cheerleader for a few (maybe all?) her years in high school. My daughter was a cheerleader through high school as well. My comments were not about cheerleaders as much as their particular use during an IU game. The droning (IU...IU...IU...IU...IU and other similar cheers) maybe pleasing to simpletons, but is way too loud and monotonous for an average or above brain. Someone needs to get some fresh material and get the damn mic away from the cheerleaders...My daughter and son-in-law were Boiler cheerleaders. OH, I totally agree. I almost mentioned the importance of the cheer coach. Their guy was awesome. Don't remember his name, but he was a super strict about "never be jerks" as well as a great motivator. We have one job to do ... and that is to help the guys win.Just for clarity...my oldest sister was a cheerleader for 4 years in high school and 3 years at Butler (graduated in 3 six decades ago) and her two granddaughters were both cheerleaders at Butler. Cheerleaders on the whole have done well in pharma sales as a result of the outgoing personality.
Remind me of the Travis Perry commitment to Kentucky before Cal left - you just knew it didn't matter, he wanted to play for Kentucky regardless of the coach. I tend to think Sisley stays unless the new coach doesn't honor his scholarship, which would basically nuke in state recruiting. Only reason I see him backing off the commitment, overall toxicity of the fan base. Rag on IU all you want but that is tough to see fans actively booing you at home. If you are a parent talking to your kid, you might keep that in mind.I'm thinking he committed to the name and not the coach. Which is a good thing. That's what we as fans want. Speaking of Perry, he probably had his best game yet last night against A&M. Hit a couple of big 3s. I just looked at his stats and he simply doesn't play much. Only 2 games of double-digit minutes, and a few DNPs.Remind me of the Travis Perry commitment to Kentucky before Cal left - you just knew it didn't matter, he wanted to play for Kentucky regardless of the coach. I don't know what the solution is for IU on the coaching front. I felt like having Fife and Matta being on staff set him up for success to handover the team in 2-3 years after reviving the team. Then came the exodus, not sure the true story behind either leaving, and now he has surrounded himself with yes men.
I don't think it is an easy answer to fix the program especially when you hit the restart button every 3-4 years.
Saw that too....good for him, honestly. Pope brought in basically a whole new lineup after Cal left. Perry knew he would fight for minutes as a freshman but his chance will come.Speaking of Perry, he probably had his best game yet last night against A&M. Hit a couple of big 3s.
