Vince on the bench in foul trouble and win by 15 cannot complain.

Eifert making me a believer.

Haarms was so vastly underrated as a recruit it feels like highway robbery that we landed him.

No 3 pt field goals in the first half, and we still kept grinding it out.

This team has poise.

Carsen recovered from a slow start and started to show his offensive a defensive prowess. ( I'm kinda in love with him)

Sorry for crap structure, feel free to add any additional hot takes (or cakes)

Boiler up my friends.

Just a great outing for Haas! Not rushing his shots, and being poised allowed him to take the methodical footwork and shooting.

Carson being himself in second half was great. Eifert did add some nice quality minutes. Love his comeback from the airball first free throw!

Boiler Up!

Yeah I was a bit worried about Eiferts free throw shooting myself, but really just a small sample set to go on. I like how he knows his role, I've never seen him take even one bad shot. I'm surprised though that Painter plays him over Taylor. Maybe it's just because he makes very few mistakes.

I mean....he AIRBALLED the first one so I feel your concerns are justified!

Better defender on the wing and can defend the 3 and 4 against most teams while also being able to switch screens against the 1 and 2 effectively at times. As you said, Eifert is going to give you exactly what he showed tonight:

Hard play on defense that’ll rarely put his teammates in bad situations,

Solid ball movement and rotation within the motion offense

A steady and calm prescence on the floor

An above average rebounder on both ends who will, at the worst, force the opposing team to work hard for their rebounds thus limiting fast breaks and easy offensive buckets.

A dirty layup or two every game from his constant movement in offense.

I thought he might need to switch to the Ollie underhand technique after that first one. A nice gritty game for Eifert though!

Didn't see the 1st half, but was so impressed with Carsen in the 2nd. Best overall half, and on the road to boot.

Taylor got his chance in the first half and played his way back to the bench. Good news is that he will get some coaching before the next game and I expect him to be better. Great that Eifert has proven that he can play.

Yes. Good road game experience for Taylor and Eastern against a quality team where you don't get the calls. They should both learn from it.

One of the best free throw shooters of all time used that technique (aka the granny shot). Rick Barry.

So many expectations for Taylor to be a stud but he's likely not in the best game shape either. Unless we come up with two stud recruits for the remaining schollies I think Eifert has earned one of them for next year.

my hot take. I didn't see the game. So I can't really comment on Purdue's play. I can offer my comments about Marquette. Marquette is a good team, and will most likely make the tourney. They will beat some ranked teams along the way and pull off a few upsets. They will find a way to win 18-20 games. they have solid players and are always in the hunt for elite recruits. For the Tyger watchers, I believe they are better than DePaul.

At the end of the day and the end of the year, this will be a key game in determining tourney seeding. it was a decisive "quality" win on the road against a good team.

I read comments from some about V Edwards, Eastern and not making a 3 the first half. I think we just saw the plan in redshirting Wheeler. We can survive. We have a capable back-up to Vince. People are saying Haarms is better than Haas. if so, that's a great problem to have. We won the game based on our quality depth.

people complained about the refs - that's not going to ever change. You should never blame the refs for a loss or credit them for a win. You should never place yourself in a position where their call is the difference in the game. You have to plan for bad calls and make adjustments.

This win was a lot more significant and meaningful than the Chi St blow-out. both for Purdue and the BIG 10. looking forward, I want a win over Louisville and believe this team can pull it off. and by 15 December, Purdue will be ranked where it should be. Rather than quality losses, we'll have some quality wins.

Complaining about refs isn't helpful. Playing through adversity is. Sometimes, though, the refs do make a big difference and it isn't always as simple as not putting yourself in that position. If Vince was going to avoid foul #4 he would have had to not cross half court to play defense. It's appropriate, I think, in the moment to make no excuses and play through adversity. I also think it's appropriate to acknowledge the refs could have made a difference in the game with poor calls. Both can be true.

Eifert was good last night, but the reality is in a different game, the same bad calls could have cost us a win. Suggesting Vince should miraculously be able to not get called for fouls and/or that Grady should always be able to step in his place without missing a beat is too simple for me. (You didn't do that, BTW. Just speaking generally.) Sometimes the refs do make a difference, and you can make 0 excuses, play your butt off, and still have the outcome be affected by a call. So while there's no point for a coach or players to make excuse in-game, I think fans are allowed to comment on officiating.

Jury still out on Marquette in my opinion. They have no good big men now although they have a 6'10" transfer from SMU that is eligible to play next semester. Their guards made some tough 3s to make it look closer than it was. I liken it to the Pittsburgh win at Pitt a few years back. It was a solid win, but Pitt turned out to not be as good as expected.

Need to knock off 5th ranked Nova and 3rd ranked AZ in the Bahamas to show this is a better team than the good teams of the past 4-6 years. Opportunity is there.

This is what has me so excited about the future of the program. A kid like Wheeler helps almost every Purdue team in the past. He's going to be a really good player for Purdue. This team is so deep, it would be a wasted year for Wheeler and for Purdue.

I believe this team can beat NOVA! I believe our style of play matches up with theirs and a couple of buckets will make the difference. As for Arizona, I'm not sure as Arizona is an unknown. I'm unsure of a team we've played in the past that is similar in style to Arizona. Louisville, maybe? and Arizona is an odd team that is dynamite one game and doesn't show up the next. Winning both games would cement our ranking as a top 10 team. But those teams are totally different, it's hard to predict an outcome.

Right! His son Canyon was using it with success last year at Florida too.
