Mcneese is 4/19 from 3. Pack it in and dare them to shoot. Can't afford to let them drive us to death and score 2's. Ok, not a zone, I get it, but whatever CMP has in the bag that acts like a zone I don't care what you call it is what we need Saturday.
I thought Purdue did pretty well in their rotations for the most part against HP. Similarity, they (McNeese) are drivers first, shooters second and so individual D is very important to limit the rotation distance coverage, since it delays the start of the rotation. With a player on the ball we are going to see a continuation of the weakside perhaps a bit closer to the lane than in years past. That weakside has to have their head on a swivel to close out on kickouts and should there be any skip passes which I don't think I saw.
The weakside cannot ball watch as this team is very athletic and if too much space is allowed or you aren't seeing the ball and your man there will be a lob for a dunk OR a rebound basket as this team is very athletic. That said I do expect Braden to gamble as a function of his reads.
It was surprising that Clemson gave them so much trouble in full court, and so they are athletic, perhaps not very cerebral or particularly skilled. Typically a "quick whistle" is advantage to skill and a slow whistle is advantage to athleticism, although I would hate a quick whistle getting fouls on Trey. I would LOVE to see Purdue have the rebound advantage (but with good shooting

)they did against HP, but more worried it goes similar and maybe not as much to McNeese.
I didn't watch them real close to have a really good feel with the singular viewing, but it also appeared that their guard Murrey (sp?) had a good offensive game for them, but thought I heard them say he averages about 7 ppg and I have not looked at any season stats to have a good feel. Clemson did have some open shots early and missed them...only to catch fire the last 5 minutes. A general summary without getting into specifics IMO is 1) They typically catch the ball and put it down going to the lane and so I believe the D focuses on that and in doing so don't get watching the ball and not know who is slipping behind you for a dunk or offensive board since your spacing may be greater than desired to help on the dribble.
We shall see "IF" they have a defender on Caleb and if not, he has to be a full time screener so the player with the ball gets a good look and scores enough that Caleb's defender comes out to help cover. If not, we will see Cam. Not sure what to expect from Berg. Can't see him needing to go far out and so he can be a 7'2" lane obstacle that may present some hesitation since that team doesn't know much about him other than his usage is low. So far he has only went in to give some rest to Trey...he has not been used at all with Trey and if Purdue did, I have no idea about whether McNeese has a perimeter 4 man they would counter of possibly using a big man to match????
Those that have seen their season stats and/or kenpom combined with what we saw would have the best feel for who they are...
