There are so many openings for head coaches already, that the chance of Purdue finding a quality replacement for Hazell is almost nil! Therefore, it is reasonable to believe that we'll be stuck with Hazell for the 2016 season!

no it's not , there's always OC's to choose from Mike Norvell who deserves a shot as a HC.

Well we aren't competing with Illinois, they hired Bill Cubit back for two more years.

Are you kidding!! He could be replaced by Burk and the beat would go on. I mean Burk to be the head coach. Don`t laugh he`s just a big enough p@#$k to try it.

I'd be willing to give Hazell another year - IF - Morgan Burke would promise to quit unless Hazell can produce 7 wins next season. It's a reasonable request that Burke should have no problem agreeing to - assuming he really has faith in Hazell.

Damn! Even that would be improvement! I wonder if Danny Hope is available lol! The penny pinching MB is paying Haz 1.15 mil a win, and only paid HOPE .162 mil a win. So Burke likes to pay Haz 7 times more money per win... PROGRESS!

There's a lot of head coaching openings every year nationwide. Are there stats to show its abnormally large?

And quite honestly, with Illinois and Minnesota figuring out their head coaching situations, assuming Wilson stays at IU - there's only one other opening in the Big Ten with Maryland. If there were the 3 other openings along with Maryland, I'd be concerned.

This may actually be a good year to do it, not to mention the recruiting class situation (this class is tiny - and next year will be a large class).

He couldn't do any worse especially if he had some grad student assistants who had half a clue. They should open up a deal for JPC members to bid on being coach for a week/game it would raise funds and someone who gives a damn about the program would always be the coach

The other thing that has to be considered is that the school administration is not committed to a successful football program. If they were, Hazell would already have been fired!

Well Pete Quinn just stated in the broadcast that he's thrilled that we have a Board of Trustees and President that are fully committed to a winning football program.
I kid not ....

Sounds like a great deal!!!
There's no reason why this program can't be a .500+ ball team year in and year out. But Morgan accepts loosing and doesn't plan to improve the program till it hits rock bottom. Why wait so long to upgrade??? common sense.

The entire premise of this thread is wrong. There are no more openings this year than usual.

Last year Michigan, Nebraska, Florida, Wisconsin all hired new coaches.

The year before, PSU, Washington, Texas, lville all hired new coaches.

To say this year is abnormally large is flat out wrong.

They employ Pete and I think the BoT president played with Pete. Did you know he played at Purdue for Jim Young? If not, he will tell you he did.

Absolutely correct. Next year will be no different. Most programs have their coaching staffs on a short leash. We should never have tolerated a 1-11 season saying that this was okay in the interest of rebuilding. That makes no sense. The team was not that bad. We are in far worse shape now that we are 3 years in.

Yep I actually remember him Playing center with Mark Hermann. Honestly I always loved him as a player.
But the rah rah on the radio is getting insulting to those of us that see otherwise.
And we forget that the Jim Young "era" lasted 5 years - with 3 winning seasons. It's not like we were a dynasty. Believe we played/won the Liberty Bowl, the Peach Bowl and the Bluebonnet bowl - not exactly prime time. But that's another thread.

No matter what anyone says, as long as Hazell is head coach there is no commitment to a successful football program, Unless successful means all the team has to do is show up for every game!

So be prepared for at least one more year of Hazell and Company follies and perhaps a perfect 0-12 season!
