That’s 4 portal QBs thus far, right? I wonder if the initial QB transfer(s) knew we’d be taking on several more. I doubt these guys are signing up to be third or fourth string.
From the highlights I saw of Singleton, it seems he is poised to be QB1. Definitely seems Odom prefers a mobile QB at least for now. Makes sense with our line. Kind of makes me wonder why Browne didn't stick around.

The QB room was empty when they signed so I’m sure coaches informed them that they wouldn’t be the only ones signed and the jobs wide open.
I heard on the radio show that Bennett Meredith (the lone QB on the roster) was probably graduating early and would also be gone so that’s a factor in signing more QBs.
I liked Browne and it’s a shame the past coaches ruined his Purdue career. He’s got a bright future if he can find the right system that fits his play. He brought a lot to the table and was definitely QB1 next year but obviously coaching changes and a disappointing season will change a kids mind plus I’m sure he got paid going to UNC.

How much do you think he could have possibly been paid to go to UNC? While I was high on Browne, I can't see anyone paying him much based on how little he played. I dont know UNCs QB situation, but I'm guessing Browne is far from just being given the starting job. Maybe UNC has gobs of money to give everyone?
He did get paid. An offer he can’t refuse as he was seriously considering staying here still, and would have fit our system well. Belichicks contract said he would get minimum $13m in revenue sharing, that’s more than $150k per scholarship and player and I suspect he got significantly more than average.

Either way, I'm happy with Singleton from the little I've seen.
Browne leaving didn't surprise as he moved around in H.S.
I was never impressed by the passing game Browne brought to the table. His accuracy seemed a weakness…
Money might of not been the final factor but I bet it helped his decision.
Most portal players are over recruited so when you add in NIL money the rest is history.
Yes he needed to work on his accuracy but with his size and speed the potential was there. Sucky O-line/play calling didn’t help his development either. I think he’d thrive in a hurry up offense that ran and threw quick passes that didn’t depend on the deep ball.
The one you’re referring to is going to UTEP. We got Malachi Singleton from Arkansas which was a couple weeks ago.
