Gorin flips to L'Ville ?

Hazell and Walters did not use their HS contacts at Purdue to recruit/portal against us. They weren't good coaches, but they didn't use their Purdue contacts to damage out program.
I am not defending Brohm, because I could care less about him anymore. I am sure Louisville probably offered more than we did.

In today's environment of NIL and Portal, there is no loyalty anymore. I don't remember which coach said it in an interview, but they said money is the first question that recruits and transfers ask him now and really is the main question most ask. Sure, there are some that inquire about other things I am sure, but college sports are just a business now plain and simple.

You heard it here first, folks. Purdue is the only program allowed to go after recruits they want. How dare a coach use preexisting connections to recruit at his new job?! I’m sure you’re not hypocritical at all and are fuming that Odom had no “loyalty” to UNLV, and I’m guessing you fully expect him to not call a former contact if they have a good player he would like to recruit.

While Brohm did good when at Purdue, it was pretty obvious that he wasn't long term. When he left he took a few players but Walters has left the program in terrible shape, worst part is how bad the image of Purdue football is in some players heads. Odom is gonna need a few years to get things corrected, he did well at UNLV, i really feel the man will do well, just gonna take some time

Yeah I am not sure the program has ever been in worse shape and am not surprised it is hard to get players to come here. Like you I think Odom will get it sorted.. but it could take 4 years and I hope the fanbase is ready for that. Anything sooner is a miracle honestly.

It could take 4 years. But a more realistic question would be how good do you actually believe Purdue will be in 4 years? I see this year as being a down year for usc and Washington. I believe usc Washington and Oregon will always be better than Purdue. I believe PSU, OSU and Michigan will always be better than Purdue. So in 4 years I see the best Purdue can aspire to be is at best 7th place. And to be in 7th place, Purdue will have to beat out Iowa, uw, Nebraska and ucla. And if he can’t, then that’s 11th place. Is that what you consider a successful season? Is that what you hope for? Odom seems better equipped to handle the job over Walters! But are we going to be happy watching our team finish between 7-11th place every year and realistically no hope of ever being better?

As an IU fan who saw our complete rebuild last year, I saw that the vast majority of portal acquisitions of note are done and signed by now. Signing almost all of a teams incoming portal kids by the end of January allows every new player to work into the team culture far, far earlier; especially important because football is very much a game of team coordination and system repetition.
