Game Day! BoilerUp!

OK looking back at the game, we had 1 bad quarter, 1 ok quarter and 2 good quarters. That's not bad though it could be better. I like that our best quarters have been 1st and 4th. That is a good thing.

Also give credit where it's due. Putting Hayes (?) on Border made a big difference no matter who their QB is. Border was catching everything thrown his way in the first half.

A really good long run now. The game is in the books. 45-18 is not bad, guys.

Wonderful contribution to first game thread of the year. Applause from everyone. Now back to the game, nice pick by Hayes, Sindelar heading into the game!

As if you weren't a condescending pillock to start with.

I will block you. You block me and we both move on. I don't like you either.

Very positive play from Replogle, And Norwood on D. Still think Leroy is a weak link. Hopefully Hunt being back will help.

Good on penalties. And zero personal Foul penalties!!!!

Of course there were some concerns & Purdue will need to play better to beat the remaining teams on the schedule, but I'll add some more positives that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

-Malone let Blough use the whole field. Purdue converted 2 third downs with throws over the middle on crossing patterns (a Shoop rarity) & Blough took a few shots down the field.
-Blough spread the ball around to 9 different receivers.
-Oline provided a clean pocket & comfortable QB for just about the whole game.
-3 for 4 on short yardage conversions. Jones got stuffed on 4th & 1, but Blough was 2-2 on sneaks & Worship picked up his 4th & 2.
-Pressure from the D wasn't great for much of the game, but they did hit Coney enough to have him limping around at the end of the 1st half & they knocked him out of the game in the 2nd.
-DBs were playing tighter coverage. It didn't lead to many incompletions, but it limited YAC & prevented the type of long 3rd down conversions on QB scrambles we've seen so often the last few seasons.
-2nd most points scored in the Haze era.
-Back-up QB got in the game because the game was in hand & not because of our starter's ineffectiveness.

Like I said earlier, there is a lot of improvement needed to beat P5 level teams, but it was the kind of opening game Purdue needed to have.
