Their DL is not controlling our OL. But I agree our D has been a disappointment.
Any decent P5 should beat this team handily but they are a solid FCS team.

Blough is still inconsistent. He needs to settle down a bit. Granted the receivers are not helping.
It's retarded and anybody else who performed like this would be replaced.
Blough should not be throwing 40 times in any game ever.
When we are overmatched it might be necessary for him to do that but in a game like this his pass attempts shouldn't be anything close to what they've been.
Whether you fire now or fire in December, it's the same amount of money...just more upfront.

Win the damn game. The best route to that goal for this game is to feed Jones and then play off that as EKU keys on it more and more. It should be the bread and butter of everything we do today.
There is no point to getting rid of a head coach after one game. No point in asking for it to happen. It won't.
We really don't have a ton of evidence that he's that good at it on most Saturdays. That's why we should be running more and passing less.
CDH isn't getting fired until after the season. Shut up about it, not happening, won't happen, drop it. Markell is great, but you can't kill the kid with touches, it's a long year and he will wear down. Defense hasn't played well, but we are missing Hunte with and ankle and Larkin with some mystery injury. That takes away a little depth. It hasn't been great, but it hasn't been atrocious. This board is almost as bad as the past three years.
4 straight 3 and outs by the D. Based on the 2nd quarter, I'll take it. The O needs to put some points on the board.
Yeah the D settled a bit -- Coney's injury at the end of the first half seems to have slowed him down (and now he looks like he might be out). Heck of a player. I hope he is OK.
Young has been doing better this half. Need more of that. Our O line is doing OK pass-protecting but they have been less than stellar when we have 3rd-and-short runs.

The same people who've been claiming we're terrible for the past month now take any busted play or missed tackle as proof. This board is a clinical example of confirmation bias.
If we manage to lose this game, I'll probably join them. But we have a quarter to put this team away. Need points on this drive badly.
Coney has played great, hate to see that for a kid. Wish him a speedy recovery!

First, we had better win this game or the season may be over before it really begins.
Second, I'm not saying we have to run Jones every down. We can get other RBs involved too. What we can't do is go away from the running game in a game like this.
I don't disagree that we shouldn't run the ball a lot, hell I want Markell to get a ton of touches. Just saying you can't kill jones all year, you've got to be smart about it. I mean the play calling has been about 20x better than anytime during the Shoop era.
Credit where credit is due - the defense has given up less than 50 yards so far in the second half.
It reminds me alot of Marshall last year where we were running the ball well but for some reason Appleby got a ton of passes.
Two big factors there in my opinion.
1. EKU choosing to use Mauck to start the half and now is forced to use him due to the Coney injury.
2. The time Coney did get to start an EKU drive in the second half they were fortunately backed up against their goal line.
Would like to see a little Richie Worship. think he could be a good change of pace back, but hope he doesn't get lost like Cottom did.
So our defense has had nothing to do with it? They've taken advantage of the situation. After that second quarter, I have to give them some credit for coming out after half and shutting them down.
The TD and the PI plays were both perfect throws. But he definitely hasn't been consistent. But I'm onboard with Blough for the year. I think he's got real potential and possibly much better coaching.

Mauk was ineffective in the first half. I have no idea why EKU's coach would start him in the second half with a chance to make it a one possession game, especially with how effortlessly Coney as moving the ball. He might be auditioning for the Purdue job.
Run defense has been stout pretty much all game. Fortunately in the 2nd half EKU chose to start the QB that appeard to be the weaker passer in the first half and then when they put the better one back in the game situation dictated they had to be very conservative in the game calling. I'd say it was a huge factor.
Not going to happen, don't need to mention it every post for the rest of your life. Dumb.
He might be our best QB. I just think 26 pass attempts (and 12 straight attempts in the 2nd qtr) was way out of line and put us in a bad position going into halftime of a game against an FCS team. Fortunately we killed their momentum in the third quarter but I think this game could look very different if EKU had started Coney in the 2nd half. Glad they didn't.
