FWIW...

So she is "close" with Rabb's family, who live in Oakland, California - and Rabb is friends with Swanigan (let's be honest - they live across the country, they aren't besties). So then she specifically said a source close with Swanigan's guardian (Barnes), told her this. I'm failing to see the connection. Did Ivan Rabb introduce his family to to Barnes, and because she knows Rabb's family, they're automatically tight?

I didn't say the woman couldn't be right, but I'd be surprised she has reliable sources closer to Swanigan than any other reporter in the country.

I know she has reliable sources in cal's program probably more so than any other reporter around since cuonzo arrived. I see little reason why that couldn't lead to caleb. All I can tell you is she's been very reliable in the past and has no history of stretching the truth or inventing information for the purpose of followers or breaking news. Shrug.

Who says she does? You're assuming a lot here.

This. So an unnamed source "close" to Barnes is going to share confidential information with an unknown blogger close to the Cal program? If there is one thing sleazier than recruiting, it's the media members trying to scoop everyone else about recruiting, to the point that they just make crap up.

Please, people.

I think I am going to go completely fabricate an online twitter persona as a UK reporter who has a source in Barnes agency that has already cashed the check and can confirm biggie to UK. That will really piss people off.

Or better yet I will be a Cal reporter who heard from inside the program that Purdue is a lock because Zo is too loyal to Purdue and doesn't want to recruit against them. Let's see how long it takes for these to take off. Spread them around.

If it's going to be a circus let's make it our circus. People please feel free to start threads quoting this post as the reliable source.

Her source is clearly an 18 years old... Raab is here source

@lindzcatharine
Source close to Swanigan just now: As of today, Cal coaches putting "full court press" on Swanigan.

This Cal rivals reporter is kind of contradicting herself. Why would Cal be pushing for Swanigan if they don't have a spot available right now? If Swanigan is "waiting for them", what does Cal pushing Swanigan do?

But she's not referring to those sources, she's referring to Swanigan's "camp".

I'm not saying she's just making things up to get followers by any means. And a lot of what she has said is great, but not "prove-able" whether it turns out to be true or not. Cal's coaches are obviously still recruiting him, and in order for them to do so, they have to open up a spot. That's pretty simple logic. Now, you can then say that Swanigan is waiting on the outcome of that to make up his mind (whether he thinks he'll pick Cal or not). He's probably not going to rush into another decision. Whether he's said that he's going to commit to Cal as soon as a spot opens up - and his family is going around telling people that, who are telling reporters - that's where I think this is a stretch. Not to say she wasn't told that by someone, but obviously when you play a game of telephone, things can get skewed.

Swanigan's "camp" has been extremely tight-lipped throughout his whole recruiting process.

If he comes great, if he doesn't we have J. Taylor....just let it go...............

Boiler Up!

The thing that bothers me with Dakich is he doesn't remotely say why he thinks this. "It's just gonna happen" is not really a reason. You don't have to specifically say who your source is, but is he hearing that from multiple people, one well tied source, etc. He doesn't say.
If anyone recalls, I think people were discussing it here, but when Zeller was deciding Dakich was certain he was going to IU. Everyone was asking where he was getting his info and he never gave it up until after Zeller announced. He then proceeded to say his source was "himself." He was basically patting himself on the back for realizing that Zeller at IU made the most sense and it worked out for him. One could say the same thing about Swanigan meaning if he wanted to play the four, Purdue makes the most sense. I don't buy this whole Dakich crap. He knows his stuff but it's hard to make out when he's just fishing for listens, trolling or actually putting something out there that has some legs.

Maybe we can ask DD about it. He should know the scoop and enlighten us with "what's the real deal",..tic He should be on our board sometime today.

Wow....some blasts from the past.....including our friend, SNU. What happened to Dr. Billy?

Yeah I was wondering the same ? I haven't seen him in quite some time

Edit- Billy was last on less than an hour ago. He still posts but he moved to the premium board. He's too good for us

Biggie has nothing to gain from staying. He isn't going to get any taller or any faster. If he gets a first round grade (which he has on most pre-drafts), then he gone. Thinking he is coming back will only lead to disappointment. Get excited about what is coming in. Eastern and Wheeler could be really nice pieces. Haarms, Ewing, and a healthy Taylor could lead to more depth in the 4-5 spot. Next years team will be competitive.

I saw that SNU was on there and thought the same thing. He posts on the National Board but has been pretty quiet the past couple months. He posted recently that he hasn't watched much IU basketball lately because they are so bad. He thinks Crean is gone and he is waiting for the new coach. I imagine if/when they get good again he will be back with his usual bravado. Probably not here, but I'm sure he will be more vocal on the NB.
