Dakich started his radio show talking about the latest IU basketball drug arrest but then said that Swanigan was not going to make an announcement, that he for sure will be on Purdue's team this fall.
I've read this on the Peegs board from time to time...so I'm gonna suggest it here:
Swanigan will pay his own way to Purdue and be a walk-on! That's right, you read it here first...breaking news...send it to the TWITTER-SPHERE!
I like that Dakich is committing himself this hard, but why wouldn't BCS make an announcement??
You are completely right. There is no rush for him to announce or anything, but if he doesn't end up at Purdue, jockitch will look like even more of a tool.Calm my friend. There's no rush for him
He is probably waiting for the issue with the one player for Cal to iron out. If if opens up he goes to Cal, if it doesn't he'll be a Boiler I am guessing. If he goes to Cal, then Dakich will look like a complete tool.Lindsay Brauner@lindzcatharine 33s34 seconds ago

I just want this whole soap opera over with and we still have a very good team regardless of where Swanigan goes.
Idk who to believe.

This lady is basically saying he is going to cal, without saying he going to cal. Kinda agree with others, the longer this plays out the lower our chances of getting him. The positive of this would be hearing Dakich each crow, which he probably won't do.
I will say for as quiet as this recruitment has been for someone across the country to be in contact with a source in the know is impressive...
So when is the drop dead date that all of that will be decided? Doesn't CS have until the 20th or is it the fall to decide?most programs would just take him and worry about the numbers later, but cuonzo's #1 recruiting pitch is about it being family. hard to do that and then force someone out when a better guy comes along. It's a weird situation because dillard may not be cleared by the ncaa and that would solve the problem, but that's probably a ways away from being resolved. so even if Caleb and his handler really do want him to go to cal over purdue, there is no guarantee whatsoever that's what is going to happen.

How is it that a CAL Rivals reporter has better sources with Barnes than GBI? I've long thought GBI does a poor job of relationship building.Lindsay Brauner@lindzcatharine 6m6 minutes ago
Source close to Swanigan's guardian tells me: If he wanted to go to Purdue, he would have committed already
I think at this point we will as we have open schollies ... it just needs to end so both colleges can move on.I think he can pretty much enroll whenever he wants even after the 20th. The 20th is the LOI deadline. but you'd know better than I if purdue would wait for him.
LOL, did Lindsay know in advance that Swanigan was decommitting from MSU?How is it that a CAL Rivals reporter has better sources with Barnes than GBI? I've long thought GBI does a poor job of relationship building.
Pretty sure that's correct about enrolling anytime after 20th and still getting the scholarship. There must be something beneficial about signing the LOI though, otherwise there'd be more people not doing it. I suspect it's largely the guarantee, such that upon signing the first full academic year of tuition, etc. can't be taken away short of a violation of the agreement. Hypothetically, let's say he breaks an arm or leg on summer vacation after signing. He'd still be on roster and able to redshirt with free tuition. If that happens and he hasn't signed or enrolled yet (say now thru Sept 1), the school/Painter isn't obligated to keep the scholarship offer on the table for the 2015-16 season. There's probably more to it than that, but would have to think a guarantee being in place is the biggest upside to kids signing an LOI and why most do.I think he can pretty much enroll whenever he wants even after the 20th. The 20th is the LOI deadline.
You have to admit that it is rather stunning how many players choose a different school after GBI states that Purdue is in good shape with said recruit.LOL, did Lindsay know in advance that Swanigan was decommitting from MSU?
I don't really think DD would be digging his heels in on this Swanigan position if he didn't have good reason to think he's going to end up at Purdue. Whether you like him or not, we can all agree Dakich loves being right more than anything else. \
When has Dakich ever been right about anything? How would he know what it feels like to be right about something.
Twin - one example comes to mind... the last time I recall Dakich digging in his heels like this on where a kid was going to play in college, it was Zeller and he said it was IU. I rarely get away from the office during lunch to listen in my car, so he might have been wrong on 100% of his predictions since then. But that's the last one that comes to my mind where he made a recruiting prediction where everyone was hounding him relentlessly with "what's your source?" kind of questions. And he responded the same way then with "stop freaking out, it's happening". Time will tell I guess if this is a repeat, but there's one example for you.
ZOMG The Cal reporters have sources that say he's going to Cal and the Purdue reporters have sources that say he's going to Purdue!!! stop the presses, the story to rule them all.Lindsay Brauner@lindzcatharine 33s34 seconds ago

Who says she does? You're assuming a lot here.
Depends who it is. Obviously some people like to act important and like they know something and speak to reporters.
Considering how tight-lipped this recruitment has been, I'd be surprised that this woman, who has no previous relationship with these people, would be given such an inside scoop when no one else can.
what's your evidence she has no previous relationship? she is VERY close with Rabb's family btw and Rabb and Caleb are close.
I think we are his backup plan. If the Scholly at Cal doesn't open up, then he will fall into our lap.... But not likely.I have a gut feeling our ship has sailed on Swanigan. He is probably seeing how he can fit in on Cal's team as they don't have any schollies available. Just think if he was to be a boiler it would have came by now.
I hope your right, but I just don't see it. The longer this drags out, the less I like our chances.I dont think anybody understands this recruitment. Rumored to msu, rumored to cal, says don't believe the rumors, commits to msu, says he's 100% committed, says we weren't in 3rd even, decommitts, goodman tweets purdue, dakich tweets done, cal insider tweets to cal, blah blah blah yet Purdues name just keeps popping up and it seems like nothing they say can be trusted or believed. Yet they contantly shrug off Purdue talk
Something tells me we are thoroughly in this circus.
