Yeah, I always thought Freeman was a decent coach and a good guy. I hope he does well there unless they're playing us.
I'm shocked no one has brought up George O'Leary, who has the distinction of being undefeated as a head coach at Notre Dame.
Lester, former QB coach, is now the head coach at Western Michigan and doing okay.
He was only with the Haze one year, so maybe the didn’t get infected with too much suck
Gerad Parker has worked his way up to OC at West Va.
I’m just glad that they hired from within to slow down the coaching carousel a little.

Mostly hoping neither he nor Kelly start looking to fill their staffs with Purdue Assistant Coaches.
I grew up in Atlanta and was a Georgia fan, so it was entertaining to watch two universities completely melt down.
There are pro's and con's. If you believe that Brohm is firmly in place, the carousel presents opportunity to pull some transfers from places like Cincinnati.
Odds are he will not work out. BK was the exception. Look at the trail of HC's that ND fired.
The problem Freeman faces is a fanbase with natty or bust expectations where many believe even BK did not "work out" despite being their all-time wins leader.
I hope they lose every game for the rest of my life!
This has Bob Davie written all over it. Generally this is what happens when you give players and recruits too much input/leverage on who your coach should be.
Records at ND of the last two Coaches hired with no HC experience is 70-52.

Notre Dame's 2022 schedule is much much tougher than 2021- open at Ohio State, BYU in Las Vegas, Clemson. Freeman will be tested early.
I like Freeman as a person from what I know and I think it was a gutsy hire by ND, i know to keep half the team from going into the portal.
I want to rood for Freeman to succeed, seems like he deserves it...but then there is he is coaching ND problem, Their fanbase is the worst and they dont deserve a winner.
Kind of a dilemma for me, lol.

Riddle me this.. Other than Notre Dame, who is the highest profile program that, if their coaching gig opened today, would have hired MF based on his current resume?
Would Michigan or Ohio State? Hell no
Would Penn State or Wisconsin? Probably not
Would an Iowa, Minnesota, or Nebraska? Maaaaybe
I think you have to get down into the lower P5 programs before you get a definite Yes
