1) I miss Biggie's rebounding. It feels like we just don't understand how to box your man out and grab the ball.

2) Does anyone else feel more comfortable with Haarms in the game rather than Haas? Honestly I think they could play together because they are very different players. I love Haas, but he just doesn't have the quickness that Haarms has. Haarms has a better shot from deeper, is much more nimble, can block shots easier, etc.

3) Loving Dakota's improved midrange shot. Kid is a winner.

As the first half wound down, I thought to myself "How long until people start calling for Haarms to start over Haas"?

He looks good, but it's one half of one game.

Not watching, but listening the game.
Getting impression of guys standing around without boxing out, correct?
Hopefully it will get better. 17 Offensive rebounds are not going to sit too pretty with Coach..

Yep, totally get that. I don’t care who starts, though I bet Haarms wins more tips than Haas, but gotta like what we are seeing out of Haarms so far.

Like Haarms alot. Taylor needs to get his game legs under him. Carsen is the truth on both sides of the ball. Dakota keeps on improving himself. We will fix the rebounding.

Needless to say loved the first half. Excited for the start of the season

Did I hear 17 rebounds on the offense of boards you do that against anybody ranked in the top 40 you're getting beat probably by double digits

Dude hangs out on peeps telling everybody what a big time Boiler fans he is all the while telling them they are awesome even when they are getting trashed by ISU
And he wonders why he takes so much grief on here. I try not to label who is and isn't a Boiler, but even I am starting to question his/her allegiance.

Okay you guys are retarded. Sorry for being realistic if you think you can give up 17 offense of rebounds to a team in the top 40 and win that game you're stupid. Can it be fixed yes if it don't get fixed we will not finish in the top three in the Big Ten I guarantee it. You guys are funny when somebody gives a little bit of criticism you guys get your panties in a Twist like I'm talking bad about Purdue.

Oh I'm a boiler fan I just happen to be a realistic boiler fan. Read what I wrote could be over ranked and if the rebounding don't get fixed I stand by what I say will be over ranked

How is it nonsense if I'm pointing out something that could be a problem in the future against better teams? And I was just saying if it don't get fixed we could be in trouble with better competition. So again how is that nonsense? If it don't get fixed and we give up that many offense of rebounds to better teams do you think we'll have a good record against the better teams? And I'm not saying it's not going to get fixed I'm just letting you know what's going to happen if it doesn't get fixed. So what is so wrong with that?

And indy southsider you know how stupid you sound? You're sitting here criticizing me for being on the IU board but how the f*** did you know I was over there if you ain't over there. So you must hang out over there to dumbass

How are you going to call me out on something you was doing too

I think he was criticizing because of what you said over there, telling IU fans that they will be good again soon. I can’t blaheyou for going over there. I love watching their delusional fan base meltdown.

Didn't criticize you for being there. Just for sucking their dicks and telling them how great Archie looked getting his ass kicked by the same team we beat by 22.

Well I never once did I say Archie Miller was great getting his ass kicked. What I did say don't worry about the ass kicking you guys are taking right now cuz the future looks bright. Me is a Purdue fan I love it when Indiana is good too makes college basketball in this state that much better. And what I meant by everything I wrote above this Purdue don't fix the rebounding problem it can bite Purdue in the ass when we play better teams so what's so wrong with that?

Because you have no idea why they were getting OReb's. Looked to me like SIUE decided the only shot they had was to shoot it from long range all night. That led to a ton of long rebounds as they missed so poorly.

My main gripe is you admitted to not listening or watching
, and decided to criticize. Who the frick does that?

But it takes a special person to nitpick on a night when I thought they looked spectacular. All they did was drop 105 points and Grady Eifert scored 8.

Haas better pick it up

I liked that Painter played Haas and Haarms together. I hope he tries that out a bit more during the pre-conference games to see if it works. Could be a nice change of looks to throw at teams.

Okay, here is my two cents.

1. I like how Haarms has turned out, but he isn't starting over Haas any time soon. Yes, he is quicker and more athletic, but when the B1G season comes, the bulkier PF's will push him around under the hoop. He needs to use this year to gain experience, which he will get. Painter has enough intelligence to keep him around to guard quicker post players, but Hass is the starter for his experience and strength.

2. Allowing 17 offensive rebounds is a concern, but saying we are over-ranked is a huge exaggeration. Not all ranked teams are rebounding teams and this is only the first game of the season. We will improve. Can't replace a rebounder like Biggie overnight.

3. Love how Carsen is playing. Vince is as dependable as always, and Mathias has shined as he should. Eastern has proven his high recruiting ranking, and Cline has stepped up his game. My only concern is Taylor, but I think we'll have to wait longer to see him completely healthy, so I think tonight's game is as good as expected. This team will be tested again and again during the non-conference, and I do think it will be a difficult test, but I think we will be all right.

Indy Southside if that's how they was getting the rebounds you're right and I apologize. I was just reading all the comments and didn't read anything like that. The comments was just stating they was getting a lot of offense of rebounds they didn't say how they was getting in them. But even on Long rebounds you still got to do better than that.

But all in all it looks like Purdue played a hell of a game. And any rebounding issues they had can definitely be fixed.

We have struggled with rebounding in the past and in the earlier games. The guys will get better. The ball movement is something I enjoyed and as always we are sharing the rock for easy buckets.

ah good times !!!!!! People all over other people's cases instead of talking about basketball. the one word that should never be used is never.

I 'd love to see Haarms and Haas play together. it could be a nice combo against tall teams like Michigan.. But that would mean a senior sits. I'd like to see Haas start. I believe he's proven he is an offensive machine inside. but if Haarms is better, I have to believe Painter will give him an opportunity for additional playing time and an increased role. Hammons came off the bench his senior year in some games and was awesome. I believe it would be a tremendous situation if Haarms proved worthy of starting, and we had a guy like Haas coming in to finish it off. that's kind of like I suggested bringing PJ off the bench if Eastern started.

before getting all over my case. all I'm saying is it would be a tremendous situation if both Eastern and Haarms proved themselves worthy of starting, and Purdue builds a lead, and then you bring in PJ and Haas to seal their doom with the final nails in the coffin.

I could go the other way and say it's great to have Haas and PJ starting, and then give them a rest and bring in Eastern and Haarms, to further extend our lead..

What I believe to be true is this is probably Painter's deepest and most versatile team. We have guys who could start for a lot of other Div 1 teams coming off our team who are very close to the same talent level as our starters. and we can use that to our advantage.

ok, back to your arguing and calling each other trolls.

it has been pointed out by several people and also in several games that rebounding may be a problem. but, additional insight has been added, that long shots are bouncing back and our opponent's guards are gaining rebounds. the objective of a good defense is to allow only one shot. My thought is if our opponent is getting 2-3 shots, then rebounding is still a problem. But rather than blaming Haas for not getting double digit rebounds, and blocking out people, maybe our guards need to do a better job of boxing out their men. On a plus side, our guards are making their opponent force bad shots. it appears to me we may need to work on anticipating bounces of long bombs and missed long shots. is that something you can teach?

Haas played nearly perfect in only 22 minutes because of a blowout, averaged basically 20/10 if he played 28 to 30 minutes. Already talking about him not starting. He is a top 100 players in college ball, give Haas some respect. Haarms is good, but Haas is very good.

Dude, have your opinions, but please for the love of god speak proper english. No Purdue grad would speak this way, yet alone write it down this way. Its almost like you are trying to speak this poorly. Its painful to read. Yes, grammar police but for the love of Pete!

So you admit you are making comments blindly about a game based solely on stats and not watching the actual game? Got it!
