Felipe Haase to South Carolina

I actually agree with you on this one. I would have been really surprised if he didn't go with Martin after reading comments from his coach about his relationship with Martin and I really was just hoping for one of Ewing and Haase.

Eastern is the commitment that I am really hoping for.

I'm just always surprised anyone would want to play for Frank Martin who just appears to be a crazed individual.

Frank Martin owns the Miami summer scene so no surprise.
Exactly this.....I mentioned this many times.......he rules down there.....

At least we got a good look......

Let's hope for Eastern, if not then need some good PG, SG and C commits for 2018.

So CMP was just wasting his time and the schools's money?

Who said that (Try thinking positive instead of putting negative words in my mouth)......if you don't try you may never succeed.

Painter tried to take a run at a quality recruit but was up against Martin who just happen to have better ties and relationships.

But lets hope it helps for future recruits.....geesh relax already.

If Martin rules Miami which geographical region does Painter rule?
Good question.....I would say him and his staff have good pockets nationwide...some in Texas, some in Southern Illinois/Missouri area, some in Louisiana area, some in Indianapolis/Ft. Wayne/The Region area and some in the northeast/New England States.

I like that we recruit all over because Purdue is a Global University....

I grew up in Indiana loved my time at Purdue but would not live back there.

Boiler Up!

This will give us some flexibility to sign a guy in the spring who is maybe a late bloomer, or a grad transfer, or regular transfer. With the quantity of transfers anymore, it is good to have at least 1 opening going into the spring.

Try thinking about what you write before you post it. Look, I get that Painter is your friend-ish. I stand by my friends as well...probably to a fault. But this class is a catastrophic failure from what he was gambling on. This should be the nail in his coffin in a year (depending on who leaves this year) or two.

Meh. Since when does South Carolina have a basketball team? Geez!
I live in Columbia and USC's bball arena fills up as much as Purdue's football stadium (sorry, had to go there) Football is king and baseball is a close second. Basketball is an afterthought. At least it is easy to get into a D1 game for little expense. It will be interesting to follow this young mans development under Martin. I have grown to appreciate Martin as a coach though and his recruiting has been picking up.

I'm willing to give him a little more time, but if our team underachieve again this year (less than an elite eight or sweet 16 & beating IU twice or Sweet 16 & B1G championship) and he striking out again on the 2018 class. Then yes, I'm sorry to say that we need to move on...

I think meeting his coach/handlers and getting some inroads in Florida is a good thing for the Purdue staff.

It may help them with Neftali Alvarez a 2018 PG prospect in Miami.

If he goes to the Final Four this year, then he's my hero. Short of that...he's had enough time, and he's had the resources.

Your a joke.....move on negative twit and back to ignore button for you.

Good thing is we wont have to hear your negative shit anymore because CMP will be here another 5 years at least and you will have to move on and whine somewhere else.

It is people like you that make me doubt every Boilermaker I meet and make them have to prove they are a positive one.

Back to ignore button for your negative shit.

It's fans like you that hold Purdue sports back. Ignore away. :)

Nash: Explain what you mean by that. I'm assuming you mean that by being positive no matter what he is settling and that allows the school to be complacent??

Not really sure how fans like Chevy hold Purdue back anymore than fans like you make it go forward, but I would be interested in what you mean.

Should be, but it won't be. Take a look at who will be here in 2018, assuming Biggie isn't back as a senior. It's looking pretty awful, and is a repeat of the dark days of 2012 and 2013. 2017 has produced low ranked projects who look a lot like past low ranked prospects such as Lawson, Hale, Tacos, Bade, etc. This in a year where Indiana was LOADED, Painter was devoted to recruiting the best (and I don't doubt at all that he was devoted and tried his best) and yet he still struck out, landing guys that looked like plan D or E when 2017 recruiting began.

11 years in, we have more NCAA tournament misses than we do sweet 16's, one shared B1G title and not a single elite 8 to our name. Recruiting has been decent at times, but not good enough to bring us our first four since before many of us were born. For those that think this is the year, we've been hearing that for a while. Spoiler alert... we don't have the D or the guard play to do it, and I think we finish with a worse record that last year, likely a lower seed and an exit in round 2.

CMP has not been awful, no one should say that. But he isn't going to elevate this program past a B1G title every decade or so and the occasional S16 to go along with some real clunkers (2018 is right around the corner). If you are ok with that, cool, CMP is your guy. For the rest of us, eventually you have to realize that your ceiling is pretty mediocre, and while the floor could be lower, you take a risk and see if you can do something special. We can always get another CMP type in here who is paid as a top 4 coach in the B1G and produces top 5-6 numbers over his tenure (behind in B1G championships and advancing in the tourney to Izzo, Beilein, Matta, Crean, Wisky combination).

Continuing to polish and support the status quo, when the status quo is sub-par, is ignorant but understandable given the sports upbringing many have had. Lashing out at anyone who can see the truth is what holds Purdue back. It creates a bunkered, us against the world mentality with many fans. They latch on to a mediocre coach because they feel like he's one of their own, make excuses for him and try to ensure his job security. Purdue deserves more.

So far they are only sub par by your expectations. In reality the results are above average are climbing. It's really a shame that you are so blinded by your agenda that you can't see it.

So CMP was just wasting his time and the schools's money?
I guess he wasted a lot of money pursuing all the guys who said "no", eh? Maybe we should just recruit those kids that will say "yes". That way we won't waste any money. Got any idea which kids we should pursue? How is your crystal ball working?

Actually, If you really think about it, you made an asinine comment and you should not be surprised people are calling you on it.

I don't know if you're the 2nd biggest but you're up there.

Not responding to anyone in particular, but the Cubs did it by cleaning house along with ownership changes. Why can't Purdue do the same? I know there are major differences. We are a public institution and not a business. The current state of Purdue basketball is respectable. The Cubs before the wholesale changes were not etc...

But I do see similarities in Cubs fans and Boiler fans. We support them regardless, but I do believe that the Cubs wouldn't had to wait 108 years between World Series if it wasn't for their fans. They pile into Wrigley even when they are the worst team in baseball. Now, that's great for the team and especially the owner(s) but not necessary for the fans that are dying to get back into the World Series. Just like some Purdue fans, including me, dying to get back into the FF. There was never a curse with the Cubs...If there was curse, it was their fans undying support for their Cubs. Why would any greedy owner(s) spent millions and millions of extra dollars when Wrigley field is already full. I understand that all businesses are there to make a profit, but some like the Ricketts wants more.

Although Purdue basketball is respectable (not great) under CMP. Would it be all that bad if we clean house like the Cubs did and finally bring Purdue a national championship, if CMP can't do it?

I don't believe for a second that Cubs fans were responsible for the drought. The fans have provided a massive advantage, as they have been historically for the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers.

Likewise, in college sports, a loyal fan base is a huge asset.
