I’m against government waste. I really don’t want to see a hard working essential government worker get kicked to the curb. If a private sector company wants to keep worthless non productive employees then so be it. I know of a few and wonder how they still keep their jobs. I have a choice to buy from a company that retains worthless employees. I have to pay taxes to retain worthless government employees so I have no choice.
Again, I’ve been kicked to the curb a couple of times. One was just short of 25 years. I had 15 minutes with a security guard standing over me as like I was a criminal. It’s very demeaning as giving the company your all for those years ended this way. No one wants to go out like that. So I get it on how people feel getting let go. You just have to move on to the next chapter in your career.

1) National security investigations are not criminal investigations. Many people do not understand that we have a ruthless up-or-out promotion system for military officers. Percentages are given below. So, 95% of lieutenants make captain and the other 5% get fired. That doesn't seem so bad but if you do the math on a lieutenants probability of making full colonel, it's .95 x .8 x .7 x .5 = .266 or 27%.
This goes on continuously, year after year for decades. Federal civilians don't have that risk, nor do enlisted troops. If a civilian is a GS-9, he or she can stay at that grade for 30 years and retire.

Actually, there are even more layoffs of military officers other than those who get passed over for promotion. After a war like Vietnam, there was a huge Reduction In Force, acronym RIF. I don't remember the exact numbers but something like 75% of the chopper pilots got riffed. Infantry officers also took a huge hit.
The point is that massive layoffs of government workers isn't some kind of crime. No one guaranteed a lifetime job to any federal worker, whether military or civilian.
They also simultaneously named Patel Acting Director of the ATF. In doing so they can nominate a crazy ass political operative as permanent Director because if there’s no confirmation Patel stays in charge.

I started investing in the stock market circa 1980 and my stock portfolio is now well into eight figures. A couple of years ago, I switched from USAA to Charles Schwab but my $85,000/yr military pension did not transfer. I didn't even notice this for about six months until my wife went into our old USAA account and saw the deposits were still going there. And Social Security is chump change. I have no inkling how much my SS income is and I don't care.
I pay six figures in federal income tax every year. It makes my blood boil to see that money squandered on transgender operas.
