If the CREA report is accurate, our so-called allies are spending more on Russian fossil fuels than on aid to Ukraine. Trump warned them of their dependence in a UN speech in his first term, to which some of the 'diplomats' laughed. I bet they aren't laughing now.

They are feeding the Russian war machine!

I posted this in an earlier thread and don't forget the US had over 1.3 million casualties defending Europe in WWI and WWII alone.
FK Europe!!!

Brilliant. Lol
And if we hadn't?
It also had a little to do with self preservation.

I took JS's point to be that Europe, not the US in any way, was responsible for two world wars that the US eventually entered, drastically changing the balance of power against Germany and its pathetic allies in each case.

And now, much to your delight, Europe has another war that you and other virtue signalers think the US should be involved in even though Ukraine is not a NATO country and the US is not threatened with invasion by Russia or any other country.

Yeah, that's what he meant. Over a million casualties defending Europe. F Europe. It was simply a history lesson, no offense intended.

Germany, not Europe, was responsible for the two world wars........ except for Japan, which Europe had nothing to do with.

The US wasn't threatened by Germany either. But if they had taken Great Britain and gotten the bomb first with their advanced missile technology, they would have eventually threatened us........and an ocean wouldn't have stopped them Donald.

The continental US WAS threatened by Japan. If just a few decisions and lucky circumstances were different at Midway, our west coast would have been wide open with no carriers to stop Japan.

Whatever. We don't need anybody else. No allies. No trading partners, we have everything we need.

If Hitler would have taken Europe would he have set his eyes on the Americas and the world?
The world will never know. Maybe his own people would have gotten tired of the lack of freedom under the Hitler regime.
There were attempts to assassinate him many times.
I think the German people would have ousted Hitler when Russia would have caused them significant harm.
Great Britain wanted the US in the war. The Brits realized they would be speaking German or Russian. The US saved their a$$es.
FDR played the Brits too.
The US stopped the expansion policies of Germany, Japan and Great Britain.

As for Japan, they wanted natural resources. They weren't going anywhere without them.
They would never have taken the US by invading the West Coast.
They would never have gotten past the Rocky Mountains.

Germany was planning on taking the US through South America.
Another herculean feat.
We know one thing for sure, Europeans are still fighting amongst themselves.

To add to your and other’s comments. Germany started WW1, and as a result of that war, the Versailles treaty led to economic ruin for Germany which led to Hitler’s rise . Some surmised that Hitler, Churchill, Stalin and FDR were shaped by WW1 which could easily be understood. Also, some historians believe that Japan was afraid of entering the USA due to all the guns possessed by the population and that it served as a large army of it’s own. Meanwhile we should expect pushback from those countries we have given a lot of money to, just due to Trump now expecting them to do the dishes for their allowance, as “most” in this thread are aware…

The point was that the US entered both wars to stop the brutal expansion of tyrannical dictators and to protect democracy........and because it was in our best interests economically, politically, and morally. I get that you think the last reason is silly as there's no money to be made from doing what's right morally.

You think Europe owes us for coming to their aid in the two wars. Hence the F Europe. Again, brilliant. If all you care about is economics, let's cut off 3/4 of a billion people to our markets and products.

As for your takes on WW2, I don't know why you think Hitler would have stopped. There were many assassination attempts but the officer vote had been excised.

The US saved everybody's asses. That's why you think they owe us 80 years later.

Japan only would have got to the Rockies. What point does that prove. "The man in the high castle" had the Nazis controlling everything to the East. You seem to forget about their rocket technology. We had NOTHING to compete. Japan was getting all the natural resources they needed in SE Asia. That's why they took it.

Europeans are fighting amongst themselves? Where does that come from? They certainly are getting together thanks to trump.

That is exactly what is happening. This is a gift article from today's NY Times:

Europe Races to Craft a Trump-Era Plan for Ukraine and Defense

European leaders are gathering in Brussels to discuss how to support Ukraine and fend more for themselves on defense.

Thanks for telling me what I already said.

Despite just going through why we fought there in WW1&2, you still believe Europe is not our problem. Good luck with that.

You have to put technology in context.
Germany had V2 rockets but they were not inter continental.
They didn't even have aircraft carriers. Even if an aircraft carrier could launch a V2 in the 40's.

My comment addresses the issue at hand. Trump is fed up with the US being the military cash cow for Europe and NATO and very clearly his strategy is a smashing success. Now, has he said some thing to European leaders that weren't kissy-huggy and assy-licky? Yes, he did. Some of the things he said were downright nasty but nonetheless highly productive.

You can rehash WWI and WWII but it's a broken analogy because the threat in no longer Germany, it's Russia. We're in a new century now. Germany is one of our best allies. Everybody has nuclear weapons. It's a different world.

Absolutely true. But if they've conquered Europe they're no longer having to spend labor and material to build Tiger 2s and 88s and make synthetic oil and all sorts of other weapons. More resources toward rockets and a big bomb.
