Ertel looks like Smith in this video

He has a really similar game and how he plays. Smart players who just want to beat you. It really is that simple call it whatever you like. If you're giving him his shot, he will score in bunches double team him and he will carve you up with assist. Who even knew Braylen Mullins prior to Ertel running point actually all four of the starters form Indiana Elite 2025's received D1 scholarships Mullins went from nowhere to a five-star IMO Ertel helped with that same with Sisley without Ertel his ranking dropped and right now Anthony Thompson is putting up sick numbers playing with Ertel I have seen him as high as #5. I love this kid I watched the head-to-head matchup with Mullins Luke got the win. Mullins is a whale of a player but at no time would I have traded him for Mullins. And like I said down 20 but mission accomplished he got the win. Make no mistake Mullins is worthy of the 5-star Braden Smith has set the bar high. I feel for anyone trying to fill those shoes. May take more than one player.

Any insight on Anthony Thompson? I know we’ve offered but so has (what seems like) everyone. Any talks on where he’s leaning?

I like our chances. I commented a while ago about PJ being everywhere. Well everywhere includes wherever Anthony Thompson is playing. Just in the last week he has been to Georgia twice to see Savage and Ohio to see A. Thompson also spending time with Trey Thompson. IMO if Painter wants you Money won't be a problem. This is not something I am willing to debate Purdue has deep pockets that few teams can match. I really thought early on Ohio State would land him but with Diebler on shaky ground landing a lottery pick seems out of reach. Cade Cunningham in a young heathy body is who I compare him to. I have no insight on where he stands. I do know we are seeing PJ evolve to now be a lead recruiter.

Dang PJ is everywhere haha. Is Anythiny Thompson more of a 2-3 and then Trey would be a 4? Are we still the top choice for Trey? And savage I hear is pretty good too, what are your thoughts there?

100% agree. Purdue can compete in NIL with anyone, they just aren’t willing to throw money out to anyone if it doesn’t make sense.

Anthony is a wing not sure 2 or 3 plays facing the basket so probably wouldn't make sense to change that. Trey is a 4 big body really similar to TKR in HS. Honestly Painter has more offers in 2026 than I can track. Seems to love the 3-stripe league. I see where Felix Quinones said he talks to Paul Lust often and has Purdue at or near his top. Keep an eye out for Cooper Zachery 2027 PG from Fishers killing it for Indiana Elite 16u his dad is Dan Zachery an NBA vet. Dan just putout Nevada has offered him this week. IMO Painter can get almost anyone he wants especially from Euro league. And then there is the portal. No player is make or break IMO not even Anthony. It's a new world and Purdue seem to be excelling in it.

Went head to head with ISU on Cluff, and outbid them when they were offering $1.5 MM. Also seeing the estimates of around $8-10 MM in total NIL payouts for this team, like you said there are only a handful spending more than us (BYU, UK, Arkansas, Duke, and IU)

We offered Quinones awhile back right? Been on him for a bit.

Saw Isaiah Hill from pike went on an unofficial at Purdue. Body similar to JaJuan

Where does one glean this type of information?

Painter on the road watching Anthony Thompson and Luke in Omaha. Many recruiting sites NOW singing Lukes praises as he (23) and Thompson (26) combined to score 49 points in the opening round win. IMO Luke is a five star, and the fall ranking should show it. Also, Painter and a few assistants watched Bo Ogden's opening round. Many of the talking heads are back tracking on Luke and no longer can question why Painter offered him. So much for the commentator's old comments on underrated Painter finds, no way Luke won't be highly rated now. Purdue fans may have found their next All American. Yes, I know they are also watching several 2027's including Jason Gardner. IMO Ogden and Anthony Thompson are why Painter is courtside.

It's only a matter of time before Painter has a breakthrough with a 5 star like Thompson. Would have to be the right kid to be ranked that high and put ego aside for Purdue culture fit. Maybe Thompson is that guy? Will be a ton of playing time and shots available after next years class leaves. Playing with Ertel can't hurt either....

So if it’s on the internet it must be true right??? Wish people would post links or at least quote the source.
Or you could spend hours looking information up like this yourselves instead of asking others to do it for you. The specific data that I posted about was indeed from X as the other poster mentioned, can't remember the original source but it's all over X/Reddit/even Rivals.

With Ertel coming in next year and (assuming he’s here) Mayer, will be interesting to see if painter pursues Kinney/if Kinney’s interest remains strong for Purdue.

as is his quick jumping, getting up and down the court...and I think I saw a FT that reminded me of JaJuan as well. Purdue on him this early and I have to believe Purdue has a huge lead for him at this time

I think Purdue fans are going to love Luke as he is VERY good that competes in all phases ALL the time

I’m not the one posting quotes attributing to others. I’m not the one claiming it and posting it as facts. Most posters in similar situations post along with a link. Not an unreasonable request.

This is what I saw (and I have 100% no clue if it’s true) :

That’s all I can find for now. There was more chatter when it was going on.

I honestly don’t think there’s many if any circumstance where Paint backs off of KInney if his interest in Purdue remains high. Build a stable of SPECIAL guards and ride them as far as they can help you get…

It’d be:

Cox
Harris
Mayer
Benter
West
Ertel
Kinney

I could see Kinney being more of Lousiville lean. I think UK has too many guards (will have too many next year) and a possibility of not as much PT, like here. Especially for a potential 1 and done.

With that said, it’d be great if we got him! Along with both Thompsons.

From what I've heard from some Mount Vernon friends Luke could've likely been a D1 level QB. He gave up football pretty early to focus on basketball. Maybe Chris Kramer-like but with a much better offensive skill set? I'd be happy with that.
