Eden Ewing to Purdue

Is he a JUCO? How many years would he have? Not sure this is what many of us hoped for in 2017

Hard to find much on JUCO guys, but here are some stats from (I think) last year at Tyler Community College:
6-8, 210 pounds
9.9 ppg
6.1 reb
47.9 FG %
30.8% 3PT
58.3% FT (56-96)
16 assists vs 35 TO
.75 BPG
.4 SPG

And like clockwork you negatwitts come out and immediately don't want him. But had he picked somewhere else, you would of been the first to get on Painter's case for missing on him.

Looks like Iowa State was really going after him. I'd take that as a good sign. Admittedly, I was hoping for a huge rush of talent in this class. However, it still looks like another solid class.

I haven't checked if he has two or three years...guessing two. He could help balance our the classes, but again I'm guessing in the dark not knowing his time frame verus Purdue classes...

I don't know much about Ewing, is he a shooter, slasher, inside player?
there are about 2 or 3 very short video clips on youtube. It is obvious that he has good springs and is a quick jumper. Most athletic people play athletic and so I see him going to the basket and being a slasher. He is thin and 6'8". teh very short clips show him shooting a couple of perimeter shots and nothing noticeably bad in his form and so I'm guessing he is okay on the perimeter. He provides some athleticism and with the rule emphasis of a couple of years ago that probably increases his stock. He will be a 3 or 4 for Purdue...assuming he can guard someone...and he has the physical tools to be really good in that area if he wanted.

Look for a confirmed announcement Wednesday for NLI signing day.

Great young man with tons of athletic ability and still growing.

Listed at 6ft 8in but some recent data shows him at 6ft 9in..so still filling out.

Long and lanky but good with the ball (handles) and nose for the ball (rebounding and put backs).

In my opinion great to get an upper classman to help fill the gaps next year if we lose Biggie, Haas or V. Edwards and a starter his Senior year at the 4 (or 6th man at worst).

Ewing and Wheeler will be great additions and add some very athletic big men that if Painter wants to go up tempo with Wheeler, Ewing and Taylor, he will have that option at his fingertips.

Very excited about this, especially if it is confirmed he signs with Purdue!

From what little video is available looks like a good athlete. Not crazy about that FT%, that needs to come up for sure. Can't have too many athletic guys so could be a nice pick-up

Yes. With Evan Daniels weighing in, I'm convinced. It's nice to have another athletic player in the mix. It sounds like he'll be ready to contribute early on.
His coach, Evan Daniels and even I follow Ewing on Twitter and EE is even sending out retweets that he has committed when people mention him committing to Purdue.

Why would he himself retweet it if not true......looking good for the Boilermaker nation.

Hopeful this is all true...great young man to become a Boilermaker.

Right. I said that I'm convinced.

Sure hope not. Still curious if we have him for 2 or 3 years. I could only find 1 year of stats for him so I am thinking 3.
I hope not as well. But painter sure has been reaching due to striking out on literally all the top targets.

The thing I am the most excited about is . . that we maybe seeing the change in our "style of play". (Big guys who can run the floor, shoot outside some and hopefully pressure more.) Couple that with our new connections in Texas and the international areas and that should help us with future recruiting. Getting either Haase or Epperson would help that before playing in China.

The key to this recruiting class is Eastern ! - Go get him Matt. With Wheeler at the 3 & Carsen and Eastern in the future back court, we will find the bigs.

What in the Hell are you two talking about? This is exactly what Purdue needed to bring us a national championship .
